| Our growing puppy! Hi yorkie friends! We'll be picking up our girl in 2 weeks (she'll be 9 wks old) and are very excited. One thing we noticed was how big she got in a week and wanted to get other breeders and experienced puppy owners opinions on if we're in for a big girl down the road. We saw her when she was 4 weeks old and she was 1 lb. 4 oz. Then saw her again at 6 weeks old and weighed in at 1 lb. 8 oz. We saw her this past Sunday at 7 weeks and she was a whopping 2 lb. 2 oz. Looks like she grew 10 oz. in one week! Any thoughts on if this is normal and/or if she'll grow up to be a 10+ lb. giant?! p.s. I know no one can ever predict the weight of their puppy, but based on the numbers above, how big would you guess she may get? Thanks! |

| According to the growth chart (which is a guestimate guide) located at: http://www.yorkiepassion.com/growthchart.htm She was on track at first for about 5.5 pounds. But the seven week weight threw that for a spin. Course it could have been an anomaly--maybe she just ate? needed to use the puppy pad? But as the mom of a "teapot", I can say that I love her no matter her weight, and only on this forum am I concious of the fact that she is considered "large". She is huge in spirit, but such a wonderful baby!

| Congrats to you!!! Sunnyvale, well I used to be your neighbor!!! (I lived in Campbell for few years and San Jose for many years!!!) Well we can't never tell how big she will be but she will be a healthy standard size, I am guessing. Good news is that bigger the puppy, less worry about health. You've got to join MeetUp San Francisco!!!! We meet once a month with other yorkier parents so they can play together. I know SF is little far but it is only a once a month!!! When you baby is old enough, of course. I can't wait to see the picture!!!! |

| Thanks for all the responses so far. She is very healthy and has a great temperament. The thing that is baffles me is how much she grew in 1 week. Any breeders out there that have experienced a pup in their litter that grew 10 oz. in 7 days? Here's a pic of her on one of our visits! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | It's so hard to tell. Cali was 1 lb at 10 weeks and breeder said she would be 3 lbs tops/ She was very small boned. She is now 5 lbs but looks smaller at almost 2 years of age. When I saw her at 6 weeks she was way smaller than her 2 sisters but when we went back 3 weeks later to pick her up you could hardly tell the difference in their size. Your baby looks like maybe over 5 lbs based on picture. What size are the parents?

| Oh wow, that's interesting. Yeah, you can never tell with them! Her parents are 3.5 lbs (dad) and 6.5 lbs (mom). She's 6 wks old in the picture and 1 lb. 4 oz. :-) |
