| Kitty is being aggressive... She attacked Alexis last night. It was bad enough to take Lady Alexis to the vet. He put her on antibiotics since she has some really nasty bite wounds. What should I do? Kitty has never behaved so badly before. I don't know why she even did it. Alexis was asleep when Kitty attacked and Alexis immediatly went submissive. She rolled on her back and peed everywhere. When I got Kitty to let go Alexis ran away. Before I could get Alexis, Kitty had her again and was shaking her by her face. I'm at a loss on what I should do. Kitty has been through obedience school but wouldn't mind me when this happened. Any suggestions?

| Sometimes the older family members take a while to warm up to a new member. The only thing I can suggest is to never let Kitty by Alexis again unsupervised until this stage has passed. In my house, it does seem that the older members give the newest member the cold shoulder. No attacking though. Hopefully Kitty will adjust when it realizes that this new pup is here to stay so they might as well make the best of it. Cat bites and scratches are horrible as their teeth are real curved and thus rip the skin.

| Is kitty a cat? or a dog? sorry the way you described kitty is a good bit bigger then alexis. anyways my cats if kitty is a cat have gotten moody with my anna at times as well. I just have to keep an eye on them when they are together. my daughters cat who is kinda mean to everyone but my daughter imagine that and shes not even 3 yet lol hates anna and i have to keep them seperate at especially at night. anna goes to bed with me and nip (daughters cat) stays out of the bed room to roam the house and the rest of them time they are watched when close to each other and i have to keep anna away from him. she thinks shes rotwiller or something so she picks on him, if i dont watch it. |

| Kitty is my older 7lb yorkie. Alexis is only 3lbs. I have had Alexis Since October. They've been getting along just fine. I don't know why this happened.

| oh ok sorry for the misunderstanding. You might have to try what i did with my cat problem anyway tho thats the only thing i can think of beside getting rid of one and im not one to get rid of any living creature. i couldnt get rid of any of my pets. i joke sometimes i asked my almost 3 year old daughter the other day if i could throw her cat outside cuz he was being bad and she told me "no be nice to nip" so needless to say hes here for good its a good things hes cute lol. anyways i hope you figure it out. kitty doesnt have medical problems? i had a pekenesie once that got grouchy like that when she got older and she had a lot of problems and i couldnt blame her for being moody. |

| No medical problems. She's only 3yrs old. She sometimes gets grouchy when she's coming into heat but she isn't so I don't know.

| Well, I have given you advice based on Kitty being a Kitty. LOL. I still think older family members can have their moments. I would keep a close eye on them, but I am sure it will pass. Just as in real kids. Mine don't get along all the time. Some days one is just deliberately mean and antogonistic to the other. All I can do is hope the day speeds along at that point until bed time. Fresh start in the morning. LOL

| Wow that is frightening.. I am having a similar problem!!! Mari, my 2 yr old 4 #, has taken to attacking Rico, my 13# Chihuahua, at night in bed if he gets near her or me. I mean she growels, then 'flys through the air' and attacks. I am so afraid he will bite her before I can get her away from him. This started about a month ago. My husband says put her in a kennel, but I know she won't go for that. Does anyone have advice? Cathe |
