| Their snout looks completely different. It seems like the top of their nose is steeper and forms a pointy end at their nose. Does anyone else notice that? |

| I wish I could say that I've seen a silky in person, but from the pics I agree with Natalie... it looks like the muzzle on a silky would be considered more of a down angle or a "down face" which you don't want on a yorkie. Their ears also sit differently on their head. Where the ears of a yorkie should be small and up, the silkies are bigger and wider set.

| You they do have similar charachteristics but you really can tell the difference. I think archie looks like a yorkie. A very cute one!!! But I do have a friend who has a yorkie and now that I have looked at the pics better- her furbaby looks more like a silky. He weighs about 12 lbs. Here is a pic of him and Luig. Luig is on the left and Milo is on the right. And then one of just Milo! What do you all think????????? |

| A silky has a longer pointed snout, longer legs, longer body and is bigger then a yorkie.9-10 inches high, 8-11 lbs females are smaller. The silky breed came about by primarily mixing yorkie with Australian terrier and rarer seen skye with cairn terrier. If a silky was bred with a yorkie it is possible to get more of a yorkie appearance then that of a silky, and if you then bred that puppy to another yorkie more of a yorkie look could come thru in their litter. btw He is an adorable little guy. |

| archie and I thank you for the compliments! i'll be honest...i think the concept of a silky is bogus. I saw a woman in the park with what looked like a border collie except he was black and white and she was like, no, he's a sheltie (a shetland sheepdog). I'm like, Lady, that's Lassie with black and white hair...I really wonder why there are so many different breeds sometimes, when they are all really some basic breeds mixed with other breeds. Like now, there are lots of labra-doodles and yorkie poos. Pretty soon, they'll probably become another AKC breed in and of themselves. I think it's all a conspiracy to make mixed dogs into purebreds for the money... notwithstanding my ramblings, in all truthfulness, I've never seen a real-live silky before, so i can't really say I know the difference. I don't think that milo looks any different than archie, so I can't say that he looks more like a silky...I just tell yorkie owners around my neighborhood that Yorkies were originally bred to be 15 lbs., and they're now just bred smaller but archie's just got the big genes. His sister, by the way, is 3lbs. |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I think you have a beautiful yorkie in Archie - there's many bigger beautiful yorkies out there... and as someone who has both a 10 pounder and a 6 pounder - I can honestly say when you see them together - size does not matter ! I wouldn't want Chanel any smaller cause she's sooo busy and seems to play really hard - but she's a total lap dog and mommies girl that loves to be carried around too - At the last meetup I went to, BOTH my girls were a little shy and INSISTED on being carried - Chanel must think she's small cause my arms did get tired ! |
