Vets. I have noticed after reading through many threads that there are alot of people that question their vets or complain about thier vets. I never really relized how hard it was to find a good vet until I started reading through posts on here. I absolutely love my vet. I can call him 24/7 just to ask a question and he treats me like I am gold and like my dog is a precious comodity. I guess he is very rare huh?? I searched around and asked many people about a good vet before I decided on who to go to. I was thinking that it might be helpful to post who you use for service if you are in an area where there are other YT members so they know if it is a good place or not. I know that there really aren't many others in my area but if anyone wants to know who my vet is I will be more than willing to list him also. He is very skilled with the toy breed dogs and he is always telling me about new things that he learned about them and so on. Also I thought that it might be helpful to those who have never had a yorkie before to list what the best questions would be to ask when looking for a vet. Just an idea////////////////

I think thats a great idea too! I agree with you.... I LOVE my vet too!!! He is awesome...always going to medical/vet meetings and researching about new concepts and ideas! He always calls me back personally when I have questions and any concerns. Always takes the time to explain everything to me in full detail so that I am comfortable and understand thoroughly what he is talking about or recommending. I am also very lucky bc there is a board certified veterinary surgeon in my area. When my vet was concerned about Tino's LP, he recommended that we see the specialist for a second opinion! He is awesome too! If anyone lives in Western NC and would like his info, please feel free to PM me!

When I first got Fred, I brought him to this vet in Dallas to get his check-up. The office was fairly new and real nice. The vet was a girl, real young. I would say in her mid 20's. I'm not sure how much regular "check-ups" are supposed to cost. She did about four things to him (check his belly, etc) and charged me $70.00! Is that an insane amount? No exaggeration, it took her less than 2-3 minutes to do all of that. I didn't take Fred back to her. She didn't seem all too friendly. I took him to get his shots at this place by Petco that does them real cheap. But, I would love to have a relationship with a vet. That's such a great idea, ReconsMommmmy! Calling all Dallas/Fort Worth people! Any good vets??!

I love the idea of sharing good vets just as we do good breeders! It's so great to share the positives rather than the negatives!!

| Recons Mom I was wondering if you lived in a small area? I have noticed that (generally) small, close knit places usually have vets that are more approachable. I can also call of my vet at all hours of the day or night. And the prices are rediculously cheap.

I am on the search for a new vet. I have used the same vet for years for my beagles and I have always been happy with her..until I got Rocky. She just doesn't seem to like toy breeds ! I was very discouraged the first time I took him in and she drilled me on WHY I got a Yorkie and acted like it was the dumbest choice I had ever made! It really isn't any of her business and she knows that I am a responsible pet owner, so I don't understand her negativity. But, she is a big dog owner and thinks that everyone should have a big dog. Oh, well! I have appointments with 2 vets next week that are small puppy friendly!
