I recently saw on the news where a hawk picked up a Dachshund...very scary. Ziggy would never stay outside unattended. Also, the summers in Texas are unbearably hot.

| There have been tiny Yorkies here in Scotland killed by crows and seagulls when outside, as well as one horrible Postman who kicked a tiny one, lifting it with the toe of his boot as it flung in the air, giving it head injuries. It was a 4 year old's pet, and she and her family were inconsolable. (The Postman got sentenced for cruelty.) Not to mention all the horrible people who look for pedigree dogs, especially tiny ones, to dogknap or steal and sell on. Not to mention the weather ! Not to mention that these dogs need watching and a lot of careful attention. Not to mention any other animal/bird which could attack and kill such a tiny deffenceless animal. ................ETC.ETC.ETC. Is this an April fool ? |

| I don't think that it is ok to leave them outside ever, they are not an outside dog. I have a golden and a lab that do stay outside but they are outside dogs, they are too big to be left in a house most of the time and a yorkie is too small to be kept outside. Hannah does go outside to play during the day if the weather is pretty, but she is never left outside. |

| I wholeheartedly agree...a yorkie should never be left outside unattended, they are too small, it's too hot, anything can happen. I never leave my precious babies outside by themselves. Sometimes I leave the back door open to let them run in and out while I'm scrapbooking, but I am sitting at my kitchen table watching them through the window as I work, if I don't hear them for more than 2 minutes I'm calling their names to make sure nothing has happened. |

| Outside alone for the whole day - NO. It's different if you take the dogs to the park for the day or hang out with them in the yard - I surely hope that's what you meant ? Still, make sure there's plenty of water and shade for them. Last summer we used to hang out in the yard with Pepper - he was a small puppy then and we filled a little plastic tub with water for him and splashed the cement every now and then so it wouldn't get hot.
