| Hi everyone ! [F] Hi everyone I'm just new to this forum and the strange thing is I haven't got a Yorkie "YET". The thing is I need advice .... friends of mine are looking for a new home for their 2 year old Yorkie. Ever since I was young I've always wanted a Yorkie because I used to play with a neighbours Yorkie, but unfortunately my mum was petrified of dogs after a large stray dog went to attack her but a passer by chased it. My hubbie and kids never wanted a small dog so we have 2 springer spaniels that are wonderful they have their kennel in the garden and prefer outside to inside but I think I would feel guilty having a Yorkie in the house. Does anyone think I should take the Yorkie? Is there anything I should know or ask first? Any advice would be great!! [/FONT] |

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | Hi welcome to YT! Do you have time to devote yourself to a Yorkie? They are a lot of work and take lots of time to be groomed daily. Plus there is a lot of expense that goes into them. Yorkies don't really like to be left home alone, so you have to take that into consideration. Is your family life ready for a yorkie? Do you have small children? Good luck to you! |

| Yes.... yorkies can't live outside. They have to be inside dogs. You can't feel guilty about that. I would talk to you family and see what is on their minds. Good Luck! |

BANNED! | HI and Welcome!! Yorkie's can be like taking care of small children. Ask yourself if you have time to devote to grooming, bathing, feeding, trainning, etc. Yorkie's are not dogs who can be left alone for extended times and should be in families who can watch them more closely then most pets. Small dogs like yorkie's need extra care due to health issues and hypoglycemia. |

| Don't take the Yorkie unless you can keep the dog inside. Check if the dog is housetrained (to outside or puppy pads or?). If trained to pee pads to go inside the house on these pads, make sure that is ok with your husband. Many guys take issue with this as they feel dogs should go outside, no matter what. Talk to your family. A Yorkie is way different then a Spaniel. They require alot of attention. If you decide to take the Yorkie, I promise, they are the best little companions you can imagine and provide so much laughter. good luck |

| Thanks everyone for replying, I think all your doggie pics are lovely I will have to think seriously I know as "Yorkieusa" has said it would be very stressful to the yorkie being passed from pillar to post. I do have spare time as I don't work and although my hubbie and girls never wanted a small dog I know that they would be affectionate to it and my two springers are very maternal to other small dogs they've been around. One thing I would like to find out more about is the types of illnesses Yorkie's might develope and at what age, we already have very good dog insurance cover with our springers and adding another dog would probably not be much more. I would take a Yorkie with me when possible when I go out but if I need to go out and nobody was at home to look after it would it be ok in one room or what is the best way to organise it's place for sleeping etc. Any more advice would be great : |
