| How old is he? Maybe you should check into some obedience classes. They are very helpful for YOU to learn how to correct bad behavior. I feel like it helped me a lot.

| I think if I were you I would try to order a book on dog training or look online for free training instructions. Cesar Millan has a book out but I don't know if it covers biting. I would bet it probably does. My obedience trainer recommended "time out" by putting your dog in his crate and ignore him for awhile when he is being bad. I didn't do that though because I didn't want them to hate their crate. They weren't biters though, and that is a more serious problem. The trainer said they wouldn't hate their crate but I didn't like that idea so I didn't do it. Maybe someone here can give you some advice. Good luck.

| I'm working with Max now on "no biting." He won't actually bite down, but he will put his teeth on me if I do something he doesn't like. I turn him on his back and put my hand around (barely touching - NO PRESSURE) his neck and hold him there with my other hand on his body, saying "no biting" over and over. As soon as he's submissive, I say "good boy" and let him go. We've been doing this all week and he's catching on. Judy |

| I don't know why I didn't think to mention this. Go to the "Search" tab on the toolbar at the top of this page. Then put in "biting". Several threads will come up that mention this topic. You might want to read thru there and find some tips from others here. One thing that I saw there was to yell out like you are hurt. I remember my obedience instructor mentioning something like this. Also Petsmart (and maybe Petco) used to have some training tips on their websites. I don't know if they do anymore. I would do some searches for training.

| sometimes biting means they need a good chew toy or two. I buy the dental chew bones - they are blue and textured - mine love them. it keeps their teeth pretty good. Perhaps get a kong and stuff it with treats. and, you can also spray your hands with that bitter apple stuff so they don't want to bite or chew them anymore! Also, when yours bites, try grabbing his/her jaw and tell him/her to stop. eventually, they learn. hope that helps.
