Car in my driveway late last night.. watching.. I'm really scared

Ok you guys are going to think I'm a total wacko but I have such a big fear of having one of my babies stolen when I walk them that I always bring 2 fold-up knives wtih me. I keep a small one in my bra and a bigger one in my pocket. I pity the fool who tries to steal MY dogs.

My hubby always says knives are more dangerous than guns because they require you to get in CLOSE CONTACT with someone and you're more likely to get hurt in the process (that's why most people use guns). I told him I am fully prepared to defend my babies even at the risk of getting injured.

Heck, I HAVE gotten into a phsyical fight to protect my babies once. It was when Codie was a baby and I was walking him home from the groomers. Well this woman was in her front yard planting flowers. She wanted to pet him and I said no because her hands were FILTHY and Codie just got a bath and a trim (plus, he's a WHITE dog). She got all pissed, called me a snobby b*tch and came out of her yard and tried to KICK him!! (Keep in mind Codie was only a baby and about 3 lbs at the time) I won't go into details but let's put it this way, people passing by had to stop and pull me off her because I had her on the floor and I was slamming her head with a garbage can cover!

I'm not a violent person by nature (I try to avoid situations when I can) but don't EVER put your hands on one of my babies and think I will just stand by and allow it to happen.

She is a mommas girl, she wont come to anyone else. She isnt aggressive but she is shy.
When I was telling my family my daughter said a man came up to the window once & looked at the dog & was looking around, he couldnt see the kids in the back the windows are tinted, she hit the window & he realized they were in there & walked off.
Scary! I would have called the sheriff if I were you & ask them to check it out. I did that once w/the same sitch & the cop told me it was a couple having a affair & that he knew them. They had to have been drunk to just pull in my driveway & think they could do what ever. My kids were very young at the time, it freaked me out. I would get a private drive & trespassers will be prosecuted sign for your drive & next time call the sheriff.

I honestly don't think she was trying to steal your dog. I love looking at dogs and have been guilty of walking up to a car and looking at little dogs. I have also had people look in the window of my car at Diesel. I would just be very careful when it comes to calling the cops. They may honestly just be awwing and oohing over your little one.

once I dropped by Borders to return a book I got as a gift but I had Harley with me. But I was so worried about somebody trying to take him (after previous events) so I took him out of his car seat, put him in the back of my car and pulled that leather thingy-ma-bobber out so it covered him up. I don't even know what the purpose of those things are but they're cool because they just roll out and make it so you can't even see him! hehe

When I caught the guy looking in my car and trying the door handle he just took off. I think I really did just freak the guy out. But he deserved it! I wanted to go find him and run him over w/ my car.. But then I thought about.. if I kill him, I'll have to go to jail.. and you can't have dogs in jail.. Not worth it hehe

I wish we had a gate on our driveway. That would make me feel A LOT safer. There aren't really many gated driveways where I live.

You might consider a very bright motion sensor light that comes one whenever anyone comes in the driveway, also an alarm system for your home. There are just too many crazies in this world. If the peep show happens again, I would call the police. If you have binoculars, try to get the license plate numbers too.

i had to leave skoshi in the car yesterday to go into walmart! not by choice i worried so much! we went on a doggie day and the other girl had to run into walmart and she was like come on we can leave them in the car real quick i was sooo scared!


when i lived on post we came out of the shopette(military convenient store) and there was a lady in our brand new monte carlo(several years ago) and she was just sitting there going through our stuff. and we walked up to the car and were like what are you doing she was like oh i thought this was my car and walked away to her car. i was like okay this is a public place so many people and to open the car door not realizing it wasnt your car is one thing but to sit there in the passenger seat going through stuff is wierd. i mean if you are by yourself and thought it was your car wouldnt you have got into the drivers seat! crazy strange people in this world!

that is exactly what they are for - hiding the contents in your truck! my husband bought me an SUV for christmas and i use that all the time when i am out shopping even though my windows are tinted.

Yea I think they're great. I drive a jeep grand cherokee and the windows are really dark tinted but if you squish your hands on the window and really try you can still see in. There's plenty of room under the 'thingy-ma-bobber' pull out for him to walk around and there's already a dog bed back there for my bigger dogs so he just snuggled up and passed out.

My dad said I should get a BEWARE OF DOG sticker and put it on my car window beside where is car seat is.. hehe

Maybe I read too many Dean Koontz books, but long drives seem to be a great place for 3 or more video camera's. One for car, one for faces in the car, and another for license plates!

Also that time of the morning, kids are always looking for somewhere to party. Most cops never bothered you in a driveway with lights off. Check your driveway up that way for empty beer cans, or other discarded "party" stuff. Even a cigarette butt has DNA on it, lol. Yea, I also watch too much CSI.

Could have also been a couple, looking for a "quiet" place to go parking.

I'd certainly call the cops next time though. You never know what someone is up to until the cops arrive. But be prepared to get some of your brothers friends in trouble, lol. They could have been looking for a quiet place to finish off their party.

A gate at the end, is certainly a good idea. So is putting up signs.

Now I know when I've seen dogs in cars, I stop to talk to them. I hope nobody ever thought I was trying to steal their dog. I just love dogs and so many are cute enough for me to stop and give them a minute of my time. I'm 50, so just a little old lady admiring someones pet. I'm harmless! I have 2 of my own, and right now, thats plenty enough for me! But I'd never leave mine alone in the car, where I couldn't watch them. Not everyone is harmless, and just admiring your dogs these days.

Wher do you live in West Virginia? I am in Charleston and can't believe the nerve of people these days. I live in a nice sub-division, stay at home all day, well about a month ago one of the houses down the hill from me was robbed right in the middle of the day. The husband and wife both work so were gone.They went right through the front door, cleaned them out. Still haven't found who did it. We have had at least 3 robberys in this neighborhood this year, and I always thought we lived in a safe place. If I hear or see a strange car I make sure I get the plate just in case. I would have called the police if I had seen two strange cars in my driveway in the middle of the night, very scary. Around here people will steal your dogs right out of your yard or car if they can, I try to never leave any of mine in the car alone. I am glad we have the high fence in the back of the yard with a lock, it makes me feel safer, but I still keep a close eye on the puppers when they are out there. My husband is even thinking of buying a pistol and taking some gun classes just in case, and he has never even shot a gun, but wants to have something for protection. I hate the thought of someone losing their furbabies to a thief so keep a watchful eye on them gals.
