| You can train a puppy to use a doggie door in just a few minutes, but it takes two people. One inside with treats and one outside with treats. YOu take turns gently pushing the pup thru. then the other person praises like crazy and gives a "tiny" treat. Back and forth like this for about 6 to 8 times, then a few hours later repeat. That's usually all it takes. However, I would never let them outside unatended, unless you have a cement run with chain link fence on the sides and top. Too many things can happen to them. |

| That is how I trained Cody but so far it has not worked with Izzy. I did tape it open today as someone suggested and she did come inside one time. :-)

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We love our doggie door..it has done wonders for potty training!! We had our new little male trained in about a week with the doggie door, he loves being able to go in and out. The babies have a little fence in area with concrete and grass for potty and then a gate to the big yard where they can play when we are out there with them. It was really easy to train them, we taped it up for a couple of days. Then we put up a towel there to get them used to going through something and then a week later we put the flap down and they were ready to go on their own. I can't imagine not having a doggie door now!!
