| AKC Delays Anyone ever had a breeder tell you that the AKC was giving them the run around on your dogs registration papers??? Here is my situation my husband bought a puppy in December, when he picked up the puppy from the breeder she told him that she was waiting on the paperwork from AKC and that she would mail it to us. Well it is now March the puppy was born in Oct 06 and the breeder keeps telling us that they are trying to catch up on the paperwork, does this sound suspicious to ya'll or what??? or is this a normal deal with the AKC?? Please Help!!!

| Never heard of the problem with AKC unless there is something very wrong with the paperwork submitted by the breeder. I have registered some of my Canadian born/registered dogs AKC as well as with our Canadian KEnnel Club and I found the AKC very prompt and very courteous. They even phoned me here in Canada to sort out something on the paperwork I sent and I got my AKC registration in no time at all. I just faxed them the additional info they needed and that was all it took got my registration in a matter of how quick the postal service is to Canada. |

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | I would ask the breeder for the parents AKC #'s and call the AKC tell them your breeders name and find out whats going on. There shouldn't be a delay for that long she either doesn't have the papers or something is wrong.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Sounds to me like they may be in trouble with the AKC. AKC can bann breeders. I'd keep pushing for more info to see whats going on. I registered all my litters on line and t=had the paperwork back in a few days. No hassels at all. There's definatly more to their story..... Good luck and keep us posted! |

| Thanks to all. It does sound really fishy to me, especially after all this brushy creek crooks story. I am now starting to wonder if the lady is a broker or something, she has a website and all and she only breeds 1 breed (as far as I know) and trust me we did alot of research. I have never had a problem with AKC myself but she told me that she has paperwork backed up since september 2006 and that they where suppose to send by the end of Feb 07. Everytime my husband calls and bugs her about the registration papers she keeps telling us that she is emailing and faxing and all kinds of excuses it sounds like to me. I don't know what else to do. I am going to post the email she sent me today on here and tell me what ya'll think, ok. Again thanks for all the help with this.

| Here is the email the breeder sent me..... I am in the holding pattern waiting for the documents. I received an email stating that they would be caught up and be sending my papers (some from as late as September of last year) by the end of February. Now that I'm in to March I'm upping my emails to them to request what the heck the deal is. Am I holding you up on some breeding or showing issue? You'll get your papers as soon as I have them, I'll even send them registered mail so that they don't get lost.

| We have sold AKC dogs for about thirty five years. There have been many, many times that AKC has been extrememly slow or even lost our paperwork AND our money. What we do if we don't get our papers in a timely manner is call AKC and ask where they are. of course in your situation, you would need to know parents numbers or you can also call customer service and give them the breeders name and birthdate of the litter and ask if she has registered them or is having a problem with the papers. We have done this also. heck, we have called AKC so many times, we are on a first name basis with most of the customer service and registration people. I registered two puppies of my own and my last litter all at the same time about three weeks ago. I have gotten the puppy papers back already but not my litter papers. |

| Well the breeder emailed me and told me it is not AKC but another registry that is holding up the process, I guess she hasn't even been able to do the AKC registration until she gets this IKC or NKC or IKG I don't know, breeder said the pup is world champion offspring, whatever that means, anyone have a clue as to this or ever heard of it???

| Another back yard breeder. I would not have bought anything from her in the first place, and second, you hubby should have given her only half the price and told her he would give the other half when he gets the papers. A reputable breeder will always have the paper, sign it and give it to you to send to AKC along with a fee. I'm sorry this has happen to you. I hope your not planning on breeding too. |

| Papers IT means, you may be papers some day, you may not...puppies should not be sold until the breeder has all paper work in hand or tells the buyer it is a transfer of registry deals... AKC does not recognize many registries.. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I wanted to ad that I will not sell a pup til I have the papers nor will I buy a pup from someone who tells me they don't have the paperwork. I just won't. As soon as my litters are born, I apply. I just know from a buyers perspective that I wouldn't want to wait, so I'm not going to make my buyers wait. Good luck...keep us posted! |
