| Any advice for trimming ears? Tia is 14 weeks today, and her ears don't quite stand up...the tips still flop over. Although she is super cute (I love how her head looks streamlined when she's running!), I would like for her ears to stand up. I heard that trimming the hair behind the ears would help. Any tips for this? I'm bringing her to teh groomer's for her first haircut in about 2 weeks. Should I just wait until then? I guess I'll wait for responses and try this out first before I try taping (I'll probably post looking for more advice when that time comes ) |

| I bought one of the Wahl Peanut's recommended by a couple of breeders here. It is great for trimming the ears, around the feet and the rear ends. When Sadie's ears were having trouble coming up, I first just trimmed the hair off the top third. But they still folded over right where I stopped the trim. So, then I trimmed the hair off the entire back of the ear and the front too. So, she barely had any hair left on her ears. I was going to put th eBreathe Right strips in her ears the next day but wound up not needing to. By morning her ears were nice and erect.

| I am having the same issue. Izzy's ears are up except for the tips. I did trim the hair on the ears but they still fall over. I guess I will have to tape them up.

| Wahl's is a great brand of trimmer. You'd want to trim a quarter of the way down the ear from the tip on both the front and the back of the ear leather. I then take scissors and carefully finish the ear by trimming up the edges and around the tip where the trimmer couldn't reach...just be careful, that's all. Here's a photo for you to see what I mean: (I actually forgot to trim the tips in the second one, but you at least can see what I mean) |

| WOW I need to do better. I am afraid I will cut her. I have a Wahl's brand trimmer thing. I wonder if it is the same type. All mine says is Wahl animal groomer.

| I bought one of those facial shavers at walgreens for $10.00-it's something that was cheap-and doesnt cut- It worked for us-not sure how much hair you have on your tips though-it takes a little while, i like it b/c there is no chance of cutting your baby -is that ghetto? tee hee only one of her ears stood up though-now she's silly looking w/half an ear down and the other up. |

| Look at this link that I found when looking for the site on ear trimming. You are supposed to keep the top third of the ear shaved but when trying to get stubborn ears to stand, I'd remove most of the hair to get that added weight off. After they're standing, the hair can always grow back. Once you lighten the load, they may pop right up and no tape will be needed. http://books.google.com/books?id=yA6...#PRA2-PA118,M1 |

| I use my husband's beard and mustache trimmer. It's the perfect size for just about every part without using the type to just buzz cut their entire body. I used it on the outside of her ear, but on the inside, my baby totally freaks out when I even get close. So I think I might have to sedate her with Rescue Remedy to do the insides with the clipper. There is a great video on how to do ears on utube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Scn0...elated&search= |

| And the same groomer has a video there on how to groom all over and do a teddy-bear cut. She uses a labradoodle however, to demonstrate on, so it's unfortunately not the exact same thing as a yorkie. But nonetheless, it does give you some good pointers on cutting technique overall. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVIdV...elated&search= |
