By the way, wherever I go, I usually have one of my dogs w/ me. The movies, the mall, the grocery store...everywhere.
So don't think I myself don't take "risks" w/ my dogs, because I do, but I just think there's a difference between realistic risks and risks.
You could walk outside and get hit by a bus, but what are the odds and how far are you willing to risk certain things?

You take your dog everywhere? How do you get by with it? Do you hide them?

Is it just me or do some people come off as being nasty to each other here? I mean, for me, you are all my "friends" and I come for advice, help, and just to share and get your valuable oppinions. I don't think we should get angry at someone for how they feel about a certain something. Sometimes, the punctuation and capital letters we use sets a "tone" for how it should be read.
Hope I didn't cross a line here, but I love to hear what you all think and about what is going on with you, but I don't like to think we are here to make enemies or argue. Did I misunderstand?
I apologize if MY message here is the one uncalled for-lol-thats not what I meant it to be ;)

LoveMyGirls-Have you never aruged w/ a friend? ;) Not all of our opinions can be the same.

And as far as me bringing my dogs everywhere w/ me goes, I train service dogs. I have one of my own that I'm cross training and she has a vest, my others usually either get snuck in, but more often I know the owners of these businesses and make myself known. It's very seldom that I encounter a problem. It's mostly how you talk to these people and knowing the laws and not coming off in any sort of "I have rights" kinda way.
It's a luxury that I totally relish and wish more people were able to take their dogs w/ them.

One side note is that I do have an umbrella clause on myself and my dogs. IF something were to happen, we're covered, but I can't imagine anything would...it's just wise to have. People can make things up and get your dog taken from you.

It's all about choices.. Your's and there's .. like Helmet/ no helmet.. seatbelt/no seatbelt collar/ harness. We all vary on what we would and would not do.. dog/ no dogs kids/ no kids. We all have our opinions and no one is right or wrong.. as in any other matter.. Do what ya want to do..and be happy.

How is taking risks like this any different than someone using a correction collar on their Yorkie? Is one more realistic than the other? And who determines that? The individual owner?
I have my opinion on both, and while they may or may not be identical to one another, I've seen a few posters that while they would NEVER put a collar on a Yorkie, only a harness, they're more than willing to put them on a motorcycle where now not only are you a factor, but other motorists are as well.
Just curious.

FYI Maggie came to us from a family that had her in a "correction collar" for a year. It took her a long time to be just a dog again. I'll pass on your message about out our "risky" way of life to our friends who are 2 yrs into an around the world trip on their 44ft sailboat with Chloe, their Maltese/Yorkie mix. They could use a good laugh.

Dave won't take her if he's alone, but if we go together, the Wose comes along! And 4 year old Dreama went for her first ride along with her sissy 3 weeks ago! :p She didn't seem to enjoy it as much as Wosie, but she settled down near the end and was happy to be with us!

Here's a vid of Wosie on the Harley!

Well you know that answer is yes ;)
Just saying its hard to "read" the tone people are trying to make I guess..obviously it's easier in words we can hear, so we just need to "type" carefully to not come off a way we didn't mean. Again, if that makes sense? LOL! Ah heck...to each his own ya know?
Hey, Vixxen comes with me to the movies too....Sometimes she snores so loud that people look at me like "geez lady!!" Totally embarrassing! Too funny!

:D That's hilarious. ;)

I know this might sound lame, but I keep my ticket stubs when I take one of the little ones to the movies and they have a little album that I keep them in. One album per Yorkie.

----Yorkiemom55, it sounds like it wasn't used properly and that's the results you get. What a shame. It makes a bad name for the collar when it should make a bad name for the person who strapped on the wrong collar for the wrong dog, or simply misused it. Sorry to hear about the little one.

Saleswman 03-03-2007 05:51 AM

No problem....

GLAD....it is so nice to see you here......I have always appreciated your free spirit.....I am envious....

My brother had a collie mix several years ago that rode with him on his bike.....peddle bike......he is an avid rider....rides like 40-50 miles a day.....on the highway, on the mountains....wherever....he is moving very very fast....and this dog would sit on the back of his bike....all the time, with the wind blowing in his hair.. that dog was in heaven on the many trips.....till he died.......of natural causes....

I say "to each his own".....my philosophy is........if its your time to go...then a bike wont get you there any earlier or later than expected.......and that includes our little furbabies too.....
