| Yorkies Going Out Hi there, I have a few questions regarding what places are ok or not ok to take my Yorkie. Are malls acceptable ? So far the only place I take him are the petstores; but I would love to go out dining and being able to bring my Yorkie with me, he is very social and loves people. I wish I could take him out many more places. Any Ideas ? My next question is: We are currently training/socializing him, he is 12 weeks today, and for some reason although he loves people, he doesn't seem to listen or pay attention to me at all when we are out socializing, what can I do to keep his eyes on me and stay calm. ( He usually gets overly excited when he sees people and it is very difficult to control him ) |

| I'm not sure what places allow small dogs either. I'm pretty sure that the mall is okay, as long as you have him in a dog carrier or tote of some sort or maybe a stroller. Some dining establishments allow dogs if they have an outside area and the outside patio is accessible from the outside, but you have to ask to make sure. Do a google search for pet friendly places or restaurants in Tampa, FL. Congrats on your new pup! It's very good that you are socializing him. It is sooo important!

| I dont know for sure where you can take your baby either. Sometimes for me it is just hit or miss. Nordstroms lets my girl in Restaraunts, generally no. As far as getting his attention when you are "socializing..." you should start training your boy with treats. Maybe first in a "quiet" setting, like your own yard. Leave his leash on so you can grab it quickly! What I started doing is taking the girls in the backyard and I have a plastic shaker cup filled with treats...they know when I shake that cup and say "come" it means goodie time!! I know they dont know "come" yet, but if I use this together eventually they will connect the two...I hope! Just an idea ... however, now that I think about it... if you are socializing with other pups/dogs when you do this....you might have the whole park running to you for TREATS!! LOL!

| Also, you want to make sure he's had his shots and all, you don't want him picking something up from another dog or from something on the ground.
