| How is your dog during thunderstorms??? Tonight is our second thunderstorm this year and Hannah hates them. The first one was last week and everytime it would thunder she would take off running and barking like she was going to "kill that noise". Tonight is no different. She can't sleep and we can't either. I tried running a fan in my room to drown out the noise but she still hears it. Are we going to have to got through this all spring or will she get used to it....has anyone had this problem? It is kind of funny but not at 2am when we are trying to sleep...any suggestions? |

| Both of our boys are completely unaffected by them (knock on wood). I had a Jack Russell terrier though, that just went NUTS during thunderstorms. He would go outside, would NOT come in and would run around and round the back yard, jumping up like he was trying to bite the sky. It was absolutely horrible. He was crate trained and slept at night in his crate, so I would have to put him in his crate (if I could catch him), with a blanket over it (to keep out the flashing light) and still sometimes he would bark like crazy, especially if he could hear the thunder. I would also put a fan right beside his crate to try to muffle the thunder. At those times, we would put him in the back of the house, as far away from our bedroom as possible, and we turned on 2 fans in our bedroom so that we could sleep. It was just awful!!! I hope to never ever have a dog that reacts that way to thunder

| Oh no that is terrible, I hope she doesn't get that bad, but right now when she hears the thunder she runs to each door and each window that she can see out of and barks and growls non-stop. She is so disturbed by the noise. I think that if she was outside she would probably act like your Jack Russel did. She just wants to "kill" that noise...LOL. I hope she gets used to it. I may have to sedate her with benadryl during storms...LOL. |

| I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. I live by Tampa, the lightning capital of the world. The first night home was new years and we have very liberal fireworks laws. Brissy was fine. We had more fireworks in the neighborhood just tonight and it sort of startled her. What I did was distract her with play and treats, telling her it was ok. After that it didn't bother her at all. Hope it carries to the thunderstorms. |

| How about you try and turn on some soft music? Loud enough so that they cant really hear the storm anymore, but light enough so you can sleep |

| Well Ferdinand was born right before Monsoon season here where every night for about 3 months we have thunder and lightning. I guess he just got used to the thunder because it doesn't phase him. I guess we're lucky. Good luck!!!

| Its all my fault...... Well due to me, my chi/pom mix is scared to death of storms. Being in Texas and having tornadoes, I am terrified and so is he! He is so bad that if the emergency broadcast goes off, he will run to the closet and whine. Thats where we go in a real tornado warning! And oh dont even let those sirens go off, he goes crazy if I do not get in the closet fast enough! They start testing soon with the spring weather coming up.... he will freak out for sure. I try to be home when they do it so I can calm him down. Just a regular ole thunderstorm... he whines and paces the floor he is so nervous. Just like him mom!!! Did I mention I am terrified of storms? My poodle could care less. We will see how Sam does.

| Max is Terrified! He shakes like a leaf... poor baby! Abby's not scared... but she barks everytime it thunders. In fact, Abby woke me up at 7:00 this morning, barking at the thunder.
