| I have both CGC & TDI on all of my dogs. If you want more information on the CGC (Canine Good Citizen Test); http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/index.cfm If you want more information on the TDI (Therapy Dog International): http://www.tdi-dog.org/whatdo.html I personally recommend that everyone that has a "pet" dog should really get their CGC testing done. It can help in so many ways, even if you thought the test itself was a breeze. There are a lot of appartment complexes and housing developments in some cities that now only let you live there w/ your pet if you've been tested. Further, airlines are talking about it being a requirement to fly w/ your pets (although, I don't think that'll go through myself) and so on. All in all, it's certainly worth the $5-$10 testing fee imo. If you have any further questions, please feel free to PM me. |

| There really aren't many communicable diseases that your dog will pick up from the patients at a hospital. Not to mention many of the patients that we take our little ones to visit are sick in a contagious sort of way anyway. If you have a healthy immune system yourself, so does your pup AND you don't mind hospitals or nursing homes, I'd so go for it. It's very rewarding and in 10 years I have yet to have myself or any of my dogs come up ill from a visit. Not once. In either case, know that your pup needs to be at least a year of age and not visually or hearing impared in order to test for his/her TDI title. Go to the website I added above if you haven't already and like I said before, feel free to PM me anytime. |

| Thanks for the info. My Yorkie puppy is 12 weeks old, and I will be getting another puppy hopefully in the next couple of months, so I am looking for a puppy training class. The closest AKC club is about 1 1/2 hrs each way from me, so I will have to find a class closer. Any opinions on the Petsmart classes? |

| My girl Abbie was certified yesterday as a therapy dog through TDI. I'm now trying to gather information on different groups to go with. I was very proud of her. She did great!

How did you start training her? She must be over a year, as TDI requires the AKC CGC, but when did you start her training and how long did it take? Did you take her to classes like Petsmart has, or just at home, or ???? Thanks! Missy | |
