| Older yorkie disciplines/protects younger one Well, I was in the bathroom the other day and Sophie started chewing on the wicker garbage basket....I told her "SOPHIE, NO!" and to stop and immediately after I did that Topher went over to her and gave her a swat (for lack of a better word). It was obvious he was telling her to stop what she was doing! Also, whenever we walk into our livingroom, Sophie loves to grab at our socks and Topher immediately grabs at her to get her to stop biting our feet. I've witnessed him doing this time and time again when I'm trying to discipline Sophie...he always has to go over to her to put his two cents in! I must say she listens to him better than she listens to me!! lol Aside from the disciplining, I've also seen him be very protective of her. I was sewing yesterday and the cord of the iron was hanging down from the ironing board...Sophie went over to it and began to chew on the cord. Before I could stop her, Topher went over to her and strongly nudged her away from the cord. I'd never seen anything like this in my life! Have any of you with two or more yorkies witnesses behaviors like this? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | SO cute how thet look out for each other. The other day Pixie started chewing on a magazine on the bed and I told her to stop. Cali came over and broadsided her away from the magazine. Then last night I was grooming Cali which takes forever and Pixie stood watching the whole time then when I put her down,Pixie started kissing her. Next it was Pixie's turn who takes 2 minutes to groom. I was combing her moustache and she screamed even though I know id didn't hurt her and Cali got upset and started jumping up on my leg as if to say stop hurting her. I am hoping they will become best friends soon.

| Tansy does it to the cat. If the cat jumps up on the coffee table, or anywhere else she shouldn't go, Tansy barks at her till she gets down. She also joins in if I shout at the cat for doing something wrong like chewing the houseplants. She rarely barks for any other reason. |

| Your lucky to have him looking out for her. My two are joined at the hip, but so far have never gotten into anything they shouldn't. Guess I'm very lucky. |

| It's normal. My trainer talks about how her mom dogs are the "police". If a younger one does something not allowed, like counter surf or steal something or excessively bark or whatever, the older ones will enforce the rules. Her dogs are also the best trained dogs in the entire world, so I guess it helps if the older ones are trained and will help train the younger ones.

| That's one little smarty you have. You should hire him out to help with some of the little ones on this site that won't listen to their mommy and daddy. Topher could get them in line faster I'm sure. Carol & Buddy |

| Omg! Yes!!!!!!1 This is such an interesting thread. I have never mentioned this before for fear of people saying that I have really lost it My cat and poodle are both the same with Bobbi my yorkie pup. They look-out for him and discipline him as well. I KNOW in my heart that they feel they are brothers and sister (I have raised them that way..........so why not?) The other day Bobbi was scolded by me because I cought him going into the cat's domed litter box.............he stopped dead on his tracks and went straight to his bed. The cat followed him and layed next to him.............just licking and purring away (kinda like moral support........too cute)! I have caught the cat on many occasions on the kitchen table 'pawing' down some treats or leftovers for the 2 dogs. He manages to get to the food and knock it down to them...........as they patiently sit and wait for it to fall..........they are definitely ALL guilty by association

| Yes, Yogi is the Sire of Bogus and he is constantly getting the last word in when I speak in a stern voice to baby Bogus. At night when we are trying to go to sleep and Bogus is running all over the bed after about 2-3 minutes of it, I will say, No Bogus, Night Night. Yogi will walk over to him and Bite and growl at him, Bogus will circle a few times, plops down with his chin on my chest and goes to sleep. The same with chewing on things. The little Daddy will bite him and nudge him away...Last week, Bogus spent the day at the Vets for his neutering procedure and Yogi ran around the house ALL day and whinned and barked...drove us nuts. THen the minute Bogus came home at 6:00p.m.. He was fine, but exhausted!! I have also watched Dori with Maggie and Bogus, they are 6 months old, but she still gives them little signals, you can see her, and they stop what they are doing and go on to something else..its amazing to watch.

When I put her back on the floor he checks her all over to make sure she's okay! lol Jessy...that cat is something else...hehe....I love that he knocks the treats down to the pups....that's so funny! It's so amazing how they all look out for one another. |

| Mine do the same thing. The house a couple of houses down has two big dogs who spend the day on their balcony. Maddie loves to bark at them and get them all riled up whenever we walk by. When we walk by at night, I don't like her to bark because it is really late sometimes. My boyfriend and I will say "NO BARKING MADDIE." But she doesn't care. She keeps barking anyway. But Wesley knows we want her to stop and he tries to stop her for us. He will get between her and the dogs on the balcony and get right by her face so she doesn't bark. He growls at her if she doesn't stop. |

| Cassie, my shih tzu will scold Adie if she barks for no good reason. Adie shuts right up too. Cassie has also pinned her down a few times when Adie was playing too rough or biting. Cassie would never hurt her but she lets her know when she has had enough playing. Adie's head is wet most evenings after dinner too. Cassie loves to wash her up when she quiets down enough to sit still. |

| When I let my 2 out for a bit of exercise Missy goes and does her bits and peices then will come straight back to me. Boots, not a chance she loves getting out. So when i have to keep calling her, Missy will go over to her as if to play, do a little run about and then when Boots is in full play mode Missy will come over to me Boots right beside her so i can grab her . I think this is so cute, but im sure if i told anyone this(except on YT) they would think I was nuts. lol. They are very clever indeed |
