I Need To Shower!!! Hi there. I'm having a slight problem with Coco. I can't seem to shower. She doesn't like it when I shower...haha...I even leave the curtain open so she can clearly see me and she just cries and barks and tries to jump into the tub. Of course being 1 lbs she never makes it above the ground but it's really sad. I try to sing to her, talk to her and make coo sounds while I shower but nothing works. She howls like a howler monkey while I'm in there. Now I'm like, well I guess I don't need to shower EVERYDAY..HAHA..just kidding but I don't know what to do about that. Should I just take her in there once so she knows what is happening or would that just traumatize her? I don't know what to do to keep her calm while I shower. I even provide her with toys and stuff. Any advice for my shower neophyte?

That's so funny..... Your idea of taking her in the shower with you might work. How does she do when you give her baths? Sounds like your girl has quite a personality! Aren't they just adorable!!

Ahhhh the shower issue!! I had this too with Simon then one day I picked him up while he was whining and let him play in the tub with me and he has been fine ever since. And that was before I had Hallie so from then on when I showered he occupied his time with other toys and stuff but every once in awhile he would still get a little nosey and try to jump in. Now that he is older he equates the shower with his baths and runs as fast as he can when I turn the water on!

Thanks everyone I'm going to have to try that. When I bathe her she is shaking like crazy and has a very slumpy and sad look on her face. I can't help but laugh and give her kisses on the nose for being so sad but cute. I think you are all on to something. She might stop if she experiences it and decides it's not her cup to honey water. Yea my little Coco has quite a personality. She is her own boss, or so she thinks...haha. She drives me nuts at 6am whimpering to come sleep with me, so I take her up there and she just wants to bite my nose and lips, NOT SLEEP SOME MORE. I try to hide my face but she just attacks my hair. She is too cute. I wish you all could see her in the mornings. I'm the one crying during her 6 am attacks.

Maybe you can find a clear shower curtain so she can still see you in there?

| Mocha loves to stay in the bathroom when i shower... She licks to stand on her back legs and lick the water off the side of the tub.. She then likes to lick my feet and lower legs to dry me off.. Heck, I don't even need a hair dryer, she likes to chew my hair too (when its wet)

| This is too funny. I have a yorkie named Coco as well, and she does the exact same thing. I talk to her, sing to her, and she just doesnt stop barking, and everything. I've picked her up several times, and then she's ok, but, I'd really like to take a shower in peace! Oh well.

I have a shower door and Chai used to paw at the door and ask to come in. Now I put a bed by the door and she sits in the bed when I am in there. Hefner loves to get in with me but I don't usually let him because I don't have time to dry him.

Peanut doesn't like me to shower either! But she stops crying when I put her in there with me. We have seats in our shower I put her on the one where she won't get hit directly with the water. She just sits there and watchs sometimes tries to catch the water in her mouth . She loves showers but hate baths??!!

Oh thank goodness we have more than one dog! When I'm in the shower, Cooper (5 months) just plays with Honey, our golden retriever (age 4 years). She's the best babysitter in the world, just lets him jump all over her and never gets upset. She'll 'pretend wrestle' with him and when he jumps up to paw her, she'll fall over and act like he's wrestled her to the ground. So funny. I tried taking Cooper into the shower, but he pooped while I was washing my hair, and I was traumatized (not him), so we don't do that anymore. Christi

WOW - I thought I was losing my mind. I read the first thread and it said that Coco was 1 lb. I totally freaked out, nowing very well that Coco is a little more than 1 lbs. Now I see this is from 2005. Wow, that was weird
