| Flea meds will kill the fleas after they bite. Until then the fleas are free to walk around on the hair. Whatever type of flea med you use. Are there fleas somewhere else? Is she just coming in from outside? Do one of her playmates have fleas? Does she visit someone's house that has fleas? Just check her surroundings. If she is getting the proper dosing of meds she should be okay. Is she scratching alot? But if she is bringing them into the house from somewhere, you probably either need to bomb or get an exterminator.

| fleas fleas have to bite the dog first to die...it may be a new flea from outside or in her bedding. flea larvae look like tiny red worms, check her kennel or bed. you can use zodiac premise spray for the house and carpet, and if you go o the vet, ask for a CAPSTAR pill. its around 4 dollars and kills fleas for 24 hours or so after swallowed. they are awesome for when the summer infestation hits.

| Frontline works in a slightly different way to most other flea treatments in that it doesn't actually kill the adult fleas. What it does is work as a contraceptive to prevent the adults from breeding. So the odd live adult your dog picks up will still live out it's short life but will not breed so you won't get the usual infestation. Once those adults have died you will be flea free. they have to bite of course, to injest the contraceptive effect, so could still cause itching. That's why it's a good idea to give the house a good hoovering, wash all bedding & perhaps use a household insecticide (if you don't mind chemicals) when you spot the first flea. Just incase there are any others lurking. |

| If you get Dr. Pitcairns book, it has a chapter on fleas and what to do. This is a holistic approach and you can get rid of fleas and keep them off without chemicals. |

| From my understanding, tapeworms are caused by a dog eating a flea and you have to use a different wormer for those. Quote:

| The tapeworms will show up in her poop. A dog doesn't always get tapeworms because they have fleas. Don't panic. It's just something that I thought you may want to watch for just in case. Many dogs have fleas and no tapeworms. If you're worried because she is acting sick or you see something in her poop, then get her checked but don't over react to it. Quote:

| I use Frontline because it also kills ticks and they are very active in Fl. Check the dosage, is it correct? Because of their fur, I will sometimes see a flea, usually it is dead and "stuck". You could try another kind. But, as a whole, all of this type is effective. The other thought I have is to make sure you wait a couple of days before bathing. I think the rule is two days before and two days after, otherwise, it is ineffective. |
