| My dog pees A LOT... is this common? Howdy ! Oliver is a little over a year and has started to urinate A LOT! He didn't used to use the litterbox this much, but lately, he has been peeing excessively! We recently changed his food a couple of months ago- 1/2 nutro lamb and rice and 1/2 Ultra adult... could this be the cause of the peeing? (he used to just be on nutro lamb and rice) He doesn't wake up in the middle of the night to pee, but throughout the day he uses the little box about 6-8 times a day (i'm guessing here... once in the morning then he'll run around and pee again. then sleep while i'm at school for 3-5 hours and then pee when i get home... and then several other times throughout the evening) ANyways... is this normal? or a little above average? thanks!!1

| Wow, that sounds like a lot. Mine only go a few times a day. I suppose it could be the food, but you might want to have him checked by a vet to rule out an infection or something else like diabetes. I don't know how common diabetes is in younger animals, but I had a cat that was doing the same thing. She was old though - 17 when we found out she had diabetes - and she passed away a couple years ago at 19. We were able to control hers with special food, but again that may not be your problem with your dog. I would have the vet check him out. |

| I agree - I would get him checked out. Could be a UTI or diabetes, or something else entirely. But that's alot of peein' for a 1 yr old. My poodle used to get UTIs and peed all the time. Let us know what you find out. |

| Cooper pees like 3 times when we take him out. He has his spots where he goes everytime he is taken out. We probably take him out 4 or 5 times a day maybe more . But now that it is cold he does his thing forever 1 time and runs back in |

| I would have him checked just to be sure it is not a UTI if he is peeing more than usual. Especially if it is just a little pee at a time and more frequent. My girl had a UTI and she was peeing like every 10 minutes but only a little would come out at a time, so I knew this was not right. My Rudy pees like 3 or 4 times when he goes out but most of them are marking and then he will take one long pee. You will need to get a sample to take it into the vet. Good luck with that.

| My dog Coco pees constantly too. Sometimes I take her outside and she pees four or more times. I took her to the vet to check her for a UTI and she doesn't have one. I bought her when she was a year old and was told she's housebroken. She's not because of the constant peeing. My dog trainer said she's "marking" territory, so getting rid of the scent is very difficult, but important. I'd like to know more about marking. Does anyone here know anything about it? |
