haha dunkaroo! I have 2 boys, and they grew up sooo differently! The bigger one at birth stopped growing at about 4.5-5lbs and the smaller one kept going until he reached about 8-8.5lbs! I asked the vet what was wrong with the LITTLE GUY LOL cuz he was sooo little and she said "Nothing! Hes normal, its the other one, hes GIANT!" At 8lbs... still cracks me up! Oh and he was 8lbs by 7months... totally normal I guess.. hes just a bigger guy! I guess others might say 'welcome to the teapot club'

My male is 9.5 lbs. He is just more to love and a much more substantial doggie to play with my little two and a half year old son.

It's not standard but there is nothing wrong with your Yorkie.
Buddy was 7lbs at 7mos and gained 1lb a month until he was
1yr. Today at 3yrs he is 13lbs. 5oz. Just bigger that's all.
Hope you weren't planning on breeding him.
The bigger one's are very sturdy and just as loving. I bet he's a cutie.

My yorkie has a very special way of going down the stairs. He goes down about a quarter wasy down and then he would go in between the bars and jump to the couch and then to the floor. He literally flies.. its sooo cute! He loves to jump!

Okay, Im glad that its normal coz I have been asked a MILLION times on what kind of a dog I have or is that a Yorkie? He's so big... but I love him regardless! He was a Christmas gift and my bf chose him coz he has the cutest face!

He sounds cute! As you've found out, yorkies are great at flying through the air with the greatest of ease!

My boy Banjo is only 5 months and already 10.4lbs. Hes as solid as a rock and full of beans. Hes a fast runner, and leaps up and down the stairs, flys off the sofa, jumps no problem on the bed. Just now have to train him to jump into the car ha ha. At first I was concerned about him being big. I was stuck witht he fact that he cannot be a "real" yorkie if hes over 7lbs. I am so glad now hes bigger, and that I have found out there are a lot more bigger yorkies out there.

Boy am I glad I ran into this thread. My cody is 15#

He is 3 years old and his ears don't stand up either. He is crazy funny! I love him to death. I want another yorkie but I am a bit worried about how a "smaller" yorkie would do with a big one.

Is there a special forum on this site for folks like us who have GIANTS??

Toto weighs 10 pounds. His ears don't stand up either. I think he is kind of lazy because he can hold his ears up when he wants to.
