I took Royce to the vet on Wednesday they did blood work to check his ALT level for his liver and the creatinine and BUN for the kidneys i will get the results this morning ....ok as per my vet the only way to know if Royce has MVD is to perform a liver biospy ...however if the ALT value comes back abnormal it means something is wrong with the liver and since he is a yorkie then there is a high probability that it's MVD ....when MVD is mild they dont show symptoms ....when they start showing severe symptoms it can be managed with medication and special diet.....will ket you know this afternoon what his blood results are... | |

| I got the blood results from the vet ALT is at 152 which is slight;y above normal, creatinine is within normal and BUN slightly up . the vet says its good that the values are stable ...as for the kidney stones I have 2 options ne is to remove them by surgery and its a very decicate surgery considering Royces weight 4 pounds ...the second option is to break the stones down using shock wave therapy and then open the bladder and remove the fragments ....third option is to just leave them and monitor every month with x ray to see evolution...if i choose to live them it will lead to chronic kidney failure also there is a risk of acute renal failure ....so again today im ina gray zone and have no clue what to do....the vet referred me to the minessota vet school as they are the top in kidney diseases . i will contac tthem on monday . |

| Another place you may want to check out is the veterinary hospital at the University of Saskatoon in Saskatchewan. I have heard it is Internationally renown for its work. This may be another option. Best of luck for both you and Royce.

Chicken & rice, ground beef, broccoli, green beans, carrots, peas, scrambled eggs. Look up low protein diets, it helped me. Cheerios are a good treat. The specialist said not to change her diet. Except for not to give doggie treats.
