I just found this out today but I want to tell you that its not as serious as you might think because after talking to him he really gave me hope. He said that MVD is very common in Yorkies and that they can easily live with this condition, with no special diet, medicine or symptoms. Yes it is an abnormality but he was very confident that dogs with MVD can lead normal, happy, healthy lives As for the kidney issues etc. I am not familiar with them but will def. keep Royce in my prayers. Please let me know anything of interest you find out about MVD as I am learing now too

I took Royce to the vet on Wednesday they did blood work to check his ALT level for his liver and the creatinine and BUN for the kidneys i will get the results this morning ....ok as per my vet the only way to know if Royce has MVD is to perform a liver biospy ...however if the ALT value comes back abnormal it means something is wrong with the liver and since he is a yorkie then there is a high probability that it's MVD ....when MVD is mild they dont show symptoms ....when they start showing severe symptoms it can be managed with medication and special diet.....will ket you know this afternoon what his blood results are...
