Rudy is a BRAT!!!! Rudy Rudy Rudy what can I say, he is one head strong yorkie. Where I have my computer I have a dog bed by it. It is big enough for both Maddie and Rudy, they would away get in it together. Well the last couple of nights Rudy has wanted the bed all to his himself. Just now Maddie was in it and Rudy Barked and growled, his talking growl. I tell him know and pick him up and tell him Maddie was there first and as soon as I put him down he starts it again. He won't quit till my angel Maddie gets out. So right now she is laying by the bed and the BRAT fixed the blanket like he likes and is now in the middle of the bed. I have to laugh on how smart they are and he won't quick till he get in it and she just looks at me like who brought him her. Do you think he is spoiled ................Cindy

| must be normal.. Ahia will have something to chew on and even tho Buckeye doesn't chew on anything he will watch her for a long while and suddenly go over to her and take it away. He don't chew on it he just sits there with it in front of him. He acts like her chewing is annoying him and guards it so she don't do it again. Or the greenie thing...... he won't chew on one until after she starts it. then he wants it. so i get another one for her and she doesn't want that one. she wants the old one that he now won't let her have. I feel like I am raising kids again. Only difference is my kids grew out of it. I don't think these two will.

Rudy does the same thing with toys or treats. He goes up to her and puts it right by her let her go for it and he gets it. When Maddie really wants it she won't let go of it and runs for him. When I fill to dog bowl he sit by it and growls if Maddi and Lucky come near it. He will let them get food but it is like he is saying It's all mine but I will share. It's not a mean growl but a talking growl. Rudy and Maddie have such different personalities..........Cindy Now they are both in the bed, never a dull moment

Hahah, that's the alpha dog for ya! Or spoiled rotten. I have no idea how to handle that one. Hopefully they'll learn to be good to each other over time!

Fasteddie is right on -- Rudy's behavior is very normal. He is taking the "Alpha Dog" position in the pack. It is best to just let them do this, even though an honest fight may break out. All the dogs are happiest when they know their position in the pack. Actually, YOU are the Alpha Dog and you need to let Rudy know this. Then comes Rudy, then Maddie, etc. In the long run, Maddie won't mind a bit. I had two English Setter littler mates. Bitches. And they used to get into "Top Bitch" competition. Scared me once in awhile, but they never hurt each other. The rest of the time they cuddled together and truly were sisterly. Recently, my daughter's two Great Dane bitches got into it bigtime, and one hurt the other so badly, they weren't sure she would live! Took many stitches and lots of time to heal. These two have been together since puppyhood and share a doghouse and play together, and have taken care of each other's puppies. Higgins challenges Pogo all the time for the Alpha Dog position, but so far Pogo is still in charge and Higgins knows it. Higgins also knows that Don is the real Alpha Dog in our pack. He'll try things with me, but seldom with Don. At whatever breed and size, they are still dogs, with ingrained doggie behavior. 99% of pack order is settled without any violence, and I bet that will be the case with your little guys. It's kind of fun to "observe" the "pack" in our household now and then. Enjoy!

It is an on going battle for the alpha position between me and Rudy I think I am winning some days. Maddie is so laid back but she hangs in there. They have got into it a few times but nothing major. They eat at of the same bowl and when one bring food to the rug they share. He had his hair trimmed yesterday so I know he thought he looked good and was going to take advantage of it and he did look cute. Even my mom said he was a brat yesterday, I got Maddie and him a light fleece coat. Matching except the collars and inside is a different color and they are reversable too. Mom went with me to see if the xs would fix him better and he thought he was the one since Maddie and Lucky didn't get to go. Rudy keeps us girls life interesting. It is just me, Maddie and Lucky and Rudy is the only man in the house..........Cindy Higgins's Mom sorry to hear about your daughter dogs getting into it, I hope they are alright now.

Cindy, the Great Danes are fine now. Right afterward, the one who did all the damage was all contrite and submissive. Now the two of them get along just fine again. It's just that they have tempers, too!
