| to kennel or not to kennel? I was wondering how many yorkietalkers kennel their pups when they are gone and at night when they sleep, and how many of you are able to keep your yorkie out at all times even if you are out and about? Thanks! |

| Misha & Piper have run of most of the house when we are gone. I do close certain doors, like the PC room. We are never gone longer than 4 hours at a time. I have had to run to the store since we got Max. I have him gated off in the kitchen only. Our whole house is puppy proofed. No cords hanging down for them to get, everything out of reach except their toys, food & water. As far as at night, the girls sleep with us, they have stairs at the end of our bed to let themselves down for potty at night. Max is in his kennel on the nightstand at night. He's to young to sleep with the 4 of us. He has occasionally barked to wake me so he could go potty.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali had the run of the house since she was about 14 months old. She can be totaly trusted and Maya too, Now that I got 13 month old Pixie who is not housebroken or use to a crate I keep her in my bedroom unless she has just peed and when I go out she has to go in the playpen but screams most of the time she's in there. Hopefully if I can get her housebroken she will have run of the house. SHe already sleeps with me as does Cali. Maya sleeps under the bed by her choice.

| All my dogs are confined to the kitchen area during the day. So even when I leave the house they are in the kitchen. Pee pads are in two different locations but only my Yorkie uses those. The other dogs I have to let outside. As long as I keep them confined I never have accidents. When I start letting them have the run of the house I will see an accident. Yet they all sleep in my bed and so far no accidents. The Yorkie is too small to use the bed stairs so she is stuck in my bed all night and so far no accidents in my bed. She sleeps right next to my head. LOL |

| kennel I have 7 yorkies and only have 1 I trust to run the house. She never chews wires or goes potty. The others however I don't trust and they seem to feel secure in their kennels. That's the first place they head when they come in from outside. They only come out to play if I tell them it's ok. They like their little house and get upset if someone else goes in it. LOL

Yorkie Yakker | Kennel I crate my dogs. Xena was brought up in a crate so she's fine because she knows when we leave she gets a huge knuckle bone . Gigi is now crate-trained but gets anxious when we leave so I take her for a nice 30-minute walk, give her a bone and into the crate. The walk gets her exhausted. I don't allow my dogs to have the run of the house. My last dog chewed up a brand new, very expensive pair of spiked heels . They are either with one of the family members, which is where they want to be anyway, or crated. |

No Longer a Member | Chloe is crate trained. She sleeps there at night without a peep, and when we're gone for up to a few hours, she stays in the crate. The only time she'll cry in the crate is if we put her in there and we're still downstairs watching tv or something. She wants to be out with us, so she cuddles up with us until we go to bed, then she goes in the crate with no arguments. |

| We tried to crate Emma when we got her as a puppy, and she wouldn't stand for it. We tried for MONTHS to get her used to the crate, lots of toys, treats, etc. but she would SCREAM and carry on whenever she was in there. When that didn't work, we got an x-pen, which she stays in while we're gone during the day. We're moving into a house in 2 weeks, and we're planning to transition her from the pen to a small gated area, and then eventually to the run of the house. She's not quite a year old, and I'd like her to be 18 months before she has the run of the house. We're just going to take apart the xpen and use it as a gate to an area in our new bedroom, and then slowly make it bigger until she has the run of the room, then the hall, then the upstairs, etc. |

| Hoku is crate trained. I tried to switch her to her playpen at night so she could go potty without waking me up, but no go, she wants to be in her crate right next to my bed I just ordered an x-pen so I can leave her in the kitchen with more play room during the day - am hoping she'll go for that one

| Reesie got to have run of the house when she was about 8 months and started sleeping with us at about 5 months. She was very easy to potty train, but we still leave out a potty pad for accidents. Abbie is still a puppy and stays in her kennel when we are gone. She also goes to work with me so that makes it easier on her. She sleeps in her kennel, but we let her cuddle with us until she falls asleep. She wakes me up at 2:30 and 6:30 almost every morning to potty. I let her cuddle from 6:30 until it's time for me to get up at 7:00. Once she starts sleeping all night and gets a little bigger then she can sleep with us. I'm afraid she will jump off the bed. I don't think Reesie is quite ready to share the bed yet. She gets a little grumpy when Abbie tries to chew on her when she's trying to sleep. Reesie is not a morning girl.

| PHEOBE, WAS CRATED AT NIGHT ONLY, AND IN THE PLAYPEN FOR FEW HRS AT THE TIME, ONLY AT DAY, BUT SINCE SHE IS NOW 100% POTTY TRAIN SHE SLEEP WITH US, AND SHE HAS THE RUN OF THE HOUSE ONLY WHEN WE ARE THERE, OTHERWISE SHE IS IN THE KITCHEN WITH A BABY GATE. MY HUSBAND THINK IS OK NOW TO GIVE HER THE RUN OF THE HOUSE WHEN WE ARE NOT HERE, BUT I WILL BE ALL WORRY THINKING IF SHE IS OK? SHE NEVER CHEW ANYTHING (ONLY HER TOYS) AND SHE LIKE TO MESS WITH THE CATS. BUT THIS IS THE WAY I'M, MAYBE ONE DAY SOON |

| Mine have free run of the house, and they sleep with us at night. They are never alone more than 3 hours or so though, and if I am gone, I do shut bathroom doors, just to help out with the TP temptations! They sleep when I am gone, though.

| Shelby & Seymour are confined to the kitchen, familyroom, hallway and bathroom. The doors to the bedrooms are shut and a gate keeps them out of the formal living area ( white carpet!!!!!) They like to be in a crate or carrier, BUT they relate it to going somewhere!

| Pippa has run of the house since we moved to France but when in the Uk she was confined to the kitchen. reason for not confining now?? House is open plan so has no doors between the rooms lol. She has always slept with us at night.
