| Hair matting I try to brush Lucy's hair everyday and after I'm done brushing it, it looks so nice and silky. I use a spray in condition/detangler. However, shortly after I brush it, it's back to looking dull and matted. I put her on this pill (I don't remember the name of it but I got it at PetSmart, it's not missing link as I can't find missing link) that is suppose to help with making the coat shiney and silky. She has been on it for 2 weeks now and I have not noticed a change yet. I just recently switched her food to Innova-I think it is to soon to tell if this will help with her coat or not; I'll give it time though. Anyway, yesterday I put a really cute t-shirt on her for several hours and when I took it off she was completely matted, worst I've ever seen! Is anyone else experiencing hair that gets matted so fast and easily? If so, what are you doing to stop it??

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Young puppies seem to matt easily - My Cheri did until her coat changed - I actually had several matts when she was a baby I had to cut out - Once her adult coat came in she rarely matts but I also changed her shampoo. I think a REALLY good shampoo and conditioner is important... and also a light spray on oil or leave in - There's several kinds I've used and she has NO MATTS ever anymore. She wears jammies everynight and clothes and the spray on has helped immensly. I use...Chris Christensen Systems Ice on Ice also....Plush Puppies Sea Breeze Oil AND...Johnsons No More Tangles for human babies will really help when your puppy is young to brush out any knots...a groomer I went to swears by it and I use it too. Hope this helps ! |

| I'm sorry is this a stupid question....what exactly is matting?..when the hair is notted or just kind of flat?...I brush Maximus once a day or sometimes 2x if I can get the time..ah let's be real if I CAN GET HIM TO SIT through it AGAIN...and his hair looks a little flat and tends to be a little oily and flat???(don't know if this is really the right word)...I wash him with a warm rag everyday and bathe 1x a week...is this matting? |

| I love it, I have one adult male that tends to matt easy I have had none since I have been using it...I groom all my babies once a week, which takes about 3 hours I use the blow dry creme on my boy and the swishy coat on all of them and yes I use the shampoo as well.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ok...one more question - if I use the Blow Dry Creme - do I actually have to use a hairdryer ? or can I let her dry naturally and it works just as well ... the reason I didn't get it was I hardly blowdry my girls due to the heat in Houston - they just run around a bit ourside and dry themselves... with me brushing them in between ... |

| I do blow dry it rains too much in Portland to let them dry natural. It allows me to get a totally smooth coat from the boy blowing dry with a brush.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Well, rats, I hope some of you with knowledge on this subject come back and help me......CAUSE.....I just found two matts in Trace's hair. I am brushing him every day, and thought I was doing a good (ok, decent) job, but obviously between my inexperience and his hating being groomed guess I haven't been getting it all combed through. Any way these are located along side one of his back legs. Can you work these out? I had a long haired cat once, and we were told to cut into (not out) the matt. Is it necessary to do that? Please help me cause I don't want a nekkid baby |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Lol..you're not doing a bad job if there's only 2 ! I have a long haired yorkie and she still gets them...I do cut into them ..never cutting them out - that would leave gaps but it sounds like you're doing a great job. |
