| Awwww Amber bless your heart...hopefully its almost over with, I know what your going through, My daughter about 7 years ago got a kitten for valentines day from her boyfriend, well about 2 weeks after it was here we found out and became a specialist in ringworm We had to isolate the kitten but we all had it before its over cause the vet didn't catch it the 1st day we took him to the vet...I know at the time it seems hopeless and its a pain in the butt, but hang in there girl...Daisy is well worth it...Big Hugs to you from my gang....

| When my Yorkie had it, she had no symptoms but tested positive. She was on medication because every week that I dropped of a poop sample, it was still positive. I kept seeing the same people in the waiting room at the vet's that had new pups when I brought mine for her check-up, all with Giardia poops. It was a club. After 10 days, I just let her play with the others and cleaned up her poop immediately. I had the other dogs poop checked as well, all negative. She was on medication, also because she was small and the dose was for her weight, for 4 months, Panacur. When I bought my Mi-Ki I asked the breeder to have Mikki checked for Giardia, positive as where her 15 dogs. She didn't treat her dogs but I paid for my dog's test and medication and she kept him until he was negative which was 1 week on Panacur and a second week off and retested. I didn't pay for her keeping him longer. I also had him tested here 3 times over a 4 month period, all negative. I think if the poop is frozen that it no longer has any active parasites. I would ask your vet. I have had many dogs arrive with Giardia and all breeders act shocked or nasty when I tell them. I just isolate new pups for 10 days, paranoid about Parvo. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Hey Amber...please don't lose your mind over this sweetie - this could be alot worse - Giardia is treatable - you're getting treatment - so you'll have it under control soon - I'd be upset too but I don't like seeing you cry I've had NO experience with Giardia - but it's more common than people realize - and you just need to be very careful and be on the lookout for the signs - and maybe always have to watch her for flareups - I did find this site on Carrier dogs and Giardia - it may help you - http://www.workingdogs.com/doc0119.htm |

it's my understanding that even dogs drinking from stale water or water that carries the cysts can catch it - it's a pretty nasty organism - but the upside it they know she has it and she's getting treated - I guess it's hard to detect.... here's a couple more - http://www.beaglesunlimited.com/beag...giardiasis.htm http://www.priory.com/vet/giardia.htm I wish there was more info about what to expect after she gets better but your vet can tell you ....but try to relax and just keep thinking positive thoughts...from what I read some dogs can have it and not ever have it again -
