In theory, it sounds good... but I don't think it's such a good idea. It would just cause a lot more unneeded drama - know what I mean? Especially since he is so ready to sue anyone for speaking badly about him.

There are several threads and numerous posts regarding Jeff Dane here on YT already. From what I've read he and Mr. Moore are running a tight race to see who is first to head up the "Disreputable Breeders List"!

there are a lot more if you just put his name in the search at the top you will find them these were just a couple experiances people had and one that has his website on it. I haven't posted on this thread just read every post....I TOTALLY agree with this! If he is a "REPUTABLE" breeder then, why doesn't he let Fox do a segment on him to prove everyone wrong!! I also have never been to his kennel nor would I want to...I have been to his site and the some of those puppies look terrified...not to mention the outrageous prices he is asking for them...SO...Come on JEFF DANE! Let Fox do a segment on you to prove everyone wrong!!

I wasn't going to say anything about Jeff Dane here because it IS about Brushy Creek - but based on what I've heard and also after talking to him personally - I just want to say he really shouldn't be lumped into this thread along with BCK Kennels. From what I see - he's had no complaints with the BBB etc and I have heard his place is really clean. We're all for trying to help dogs - but I think we should center on the places that neglect or abuse their dogs or places that really DO scam people - and though I've posted in the past myself about Jeff Dane - I really don't think his place is as bad as people say.

Actually - after talking to him personally via emails - he's really not that bad a guy and he DOES care about the really bad operations out there....I'm all for spreading the word on bad breeders etc but just wanted to say - I've changed my thinking regarding Jeff Dane ....

There are hundreds of puppy mills in this country and if we really want to make a difference then those are the ones we should really be trying to stop.

Well V, I agree, and I don't agree.

I agree that I think Jeff Dane is probably a relatively clean operation, and that people just jump to the assumption that his dogs are kept in filth, etc, and they're probably not.

People are always wanting him to get "investigated", but I really don't think that the law/media would be able to go in and see anything particularly "wrong".

I agree that he's probably not at miller at the Brushy Creek level. For one thing, he appears to deal exclusively in yorkies. And I also have to say that I don't believe I've ever heard of him sending anyone the wrong dog, or, grossly misrepresenting a dog.

I also agree that there are waaaaay more horrible operations that deserve our attention and efforts. This has ALWAYS been my stance on him.

However, I'm very surprised to hear you say that you've changed your mind about him. I've heard WAY more stories about people getting sick dogs from him than I've ever heard about Brushy Creek. I've personally known people who have gone through this with him, and have been lied to and treated awfully by him. I also have issues with how poorly bred the puppies on his site appear to be. I have NEVER seen yorkie puppies that look like those do.

I'd be interested to hear why you've changed your mind about him. You're right though....this is a topic for another thread. Start one, or pm me on the subject if you'd like.

I have purchased a puppy from someone who used to raise puppies for him.
She still cannot get her papers after numerous requests, and this woman has paid him a lot of money. He has given her bad checks, and gave sold a friend of hers some dogs with brucellosis.

He needs to be stopped.

beig I am still new to a lot of this....what is a broker? How are they any different if they are buying dogs from the kennels? Would that not be helping the bigger kennels stay in buisness?

and Jig - good post - and yes - I've read the posts and have talked to people who bought puppies from yorkiepup.com - I'm not thrilled with anyone who mass breeds but as far as I can tell he does make the effort to make things right with his customers and his 'kennel' is clean - Brushy Creek won't even LET people back to see theirs ......I think with Dane - what you see is what you get - yes his prices are outrageous - but I've yet to read where someone bought a puppy and didn't receive the puppy they chose........but worse - the illnesses of many dogs I've heard about at BCK have had life threatening illnesses & in too many cases - dogs have died......so, as far as this kind of operation goes - his may be one of the better ones.

Agreed. I still think he is a rude and greedy man over-charging for poorly bred dogs, and that prospective yorkie owners should be encouraged to avoid him at all costs.

BUT, everytime his name comes up, people who really don't know anything about the way his kennel is set up start waving around the pitchforks and calling for the media to look into him, and the law to intervene. When in reality, it's a sad fact, but a fact all the same, that in the world that we live in, his mill probably IS "state of the art".

Anyway, before this thread started getting TOO carried away on the topic, you're right, it was important to make the distinction between Jeff Dane and Brushy Creek. Not in the same league at all.

Thank you and lol on the pitchforks - I tend to wave mine pretty hard sometimes too but that was the reason I posted.

As bad as I think BCK is - I have no illusions they'll be shut down - I only hope he takes better care of his dogs AND his customers. Those poor dogs deserve better that's for sure

A broker is the middle man, basically. They sell puppies for breeders. In my mind, they aren't any better than the kennels they sell for.
