| Question about males Ok - so I took Tucker to the vet yeterday & they can only find 1 testicle. They told me that if the other one does not come out on it's own that they will have to operate because leaving it inside the body can cause cancer. They told me to wait until he was a year old & if it hadn't dropped by then, then they can operate. We were planning on having him neutered at 6 months (he's almost 5 months now), but now it looks like we're going to have to wait. Are there any problems with waiting? I know with Biddy they wanted to do it before she went into heat, because this would reduce the risk of certain cancers. Is it the same with males? If I wait the full year am I putting Tucker at risk??? Thanks!

| One of the problems in waiting is that he may start hiking and this may not go away after he is fixed. But this can easily be taken care of with belly bands I guess |

| Hi Biddy's Mom...we were told the same thing about our male, Jo-Jo. Our vet said there wasn't any problem waiting a little longer on a male because there risks are not the same as with a female. He's 5 1/2 months old right now and we're going to wait and see what happens over the next few months. Jo might weigh 3 pounds and I'm a little nervous about putting him under anyway...I'm hoping he'll gain a bit before he turns a year old. |

| Thanks - this makes me feel better. I would actually like to wait too because he is only 3 pounds, and would rather he had a little more weight on him. Thanks again!

| Pip had only one testicle too and I half jokingly asked the vet if the castrate would be half price and was told no it would be more because they have to dig around to find it! It did cost more too but all went well. He was over a year old when he was done and he is a dad as he had fathered a litter before I got him [which wasn't good idea with his prob] I have a picture of his litter and awwwwwww they look just like him |
