Wink teapot club

Hi, I have a teapot as well. His name is sonny, and he's about 12lbs. I was told by breeder he wouldn't grow to be over 5 lbs, and showed parents of 3-4 lbs. I'm thinking wasn't the real parents shown to us. But he's much bigger then 5 lbs, but more to love and hug!

Dogs under 5a pounds are below the minimum weight an ethical breeder would require and for any breed no vet would recomend and it is veterinary standard advice- no dog under 5 pounds should be used for breeding.

Having said that small dogs can throw teapots...it just happens. Same as two 7got pound yorkies bith with 6the pound parents can throw a 2a pounder teacup.

Nevertheless welcome to the super exclusive awesome owners only of teapots club!!!

Yes, yes and YES AGAIN! Norman is in!

While he is still svelte, he has lost any hint of baby fat yet still maintained his full Teapotness.

Thank you for reapplying. With that sturdy physique, Norman will be groomed as Sergeant at Arms!

A Brief Description: He is adept at escaping from any tiny crack in the fence/door and breaking out of his cage. He has never met a stranger, and isn't terribly fond of ceramic teapots, but at 21 inches long, he's our "stretch" yorkie, and he wants you all to know that that makes him a "limo-" cuz he's that important. *winks*

I have more pics, including some with a teapot, but I'm having technology issues this morning and will upload them asap
YES! No arguments among the Venerable Ones who usually hem and haw over new members. Jaeger was BORN for the Teapot Club and Secret Society, and we are PROUD to have him as a member.

The length is amazing! He might be our first "Magnum Teapot!"

The Venerable Ones who decide go up on secret mountaintops to mull the latest submissions respectfully as for a picture of Sonny to complete his application to the Teapot Club and Secret Society.

He's sweet!!! 7.4 is a good weight!!! But come on in lol. Last time I checked Miles' he weighed in at 7.4-7.6 but that was in May. It's now July and he's 10 mos. old so I am sure he weights more now. I like his weight, he's less fragile and can hang with the bigger dogs at his meetups. The other Yorkies are either on laps or yapping at the other dogs or just standing around scared or something. One yorkie was on the floor and Miles jumped over her as she was in his way lmao!!!

I love to see the latest members of the teapot organization. I kind of wish they would invent a different category of Yorkies that would be a 10 to 20 pound range. With the Yorkie personality they would be fantastic family pets and fun to take on outings in more rustic surroundings.

I love my little Yorkie. She is perfect for my life right now but I can see how that personality would thrive in a more challenging environment! And they are so darn cute!

It does make me sad to see the cast off teapot Yorkies that were sold to people with the promise that they would be under 5lbs. There is a really cute teapot sitting in a shelter in a shelter in the NYC area. Anyone?

Sad that people would actually give their dog away because it's not 2 lbs. as an adult!! Wouldn't they miss the dog? Is the poor thing that repulsive because it doesn't fit in their purse?

I didn't even know what a Yorkie standard weight / requirements were before I adopted Miles. All I knew is that I was going to adopt a beautiful, sweet dog. I think that under 7 lbs. (AKC would actually prefer 4-6 lbs.) standard is a little unrealistic INMO. Of course I am sure that the folks on here with the tiny little Yorkie will beg to differ. Someone on here once said that "IT should be spayed" referring to someone who wanted to breed their dog. I think it was a mixed breed, but still "IT"???

Yorkies were developed from medium sized dogs originally weighing 20-30 lbs. so those genes are still present in the dogs somewhere. Oh well, what to do. All of our teapots are beautiful regardless of AKC standards

The Yorkie is a beautiful dog at any size for sure. That poor darling girl in NYC is adorable. Her ears are down but she is obviously a Yorkie and I think they said she was 12lbs. Usually the Yorkies disappear as soon as they show up in those shelters but for some reason this poor darling has been there for several days. I had hoped a rescue would get her by now. I shouldn't torture myself about these things but it really bothers me.
Yes, people do get rid of them because of size. The tiny dog is a fashion statement these days and the puppy mill suppliers will say anything to sell those puppies. Lots of "over sized" Chihuahuas and Maltese and "designer" dogs go in those shelters, too.

I just went back and pulled it out of my trash email. This is what came up:
PetHarbor.com: Animal Shelter adopt a pet; dogs, cats, puppies, kittens! Humane Society, SPCA. Lost & Found.
I hope they didn't put her down. Usually their picture will stay on there a couple of days with a message if they were adopted. She never had such a message. He picture was till available this morning. I'm going to the website to look.
www.Petharbor.com Animal Search: ADOPTABLE,
No she is not there. There were three others that were in that email this morning that have their photo missing now and no adoption announcement. Now I feel sick.

In the area where I live one of the shelters uses a decompression chamber to kill the animals.
