| MICRO CHIP, any bad experiences? Lexi is being spayed on Wed. and getting a micro chip. I was wondering if anyone had any bad experiences with the MC? If you have had one put in your pup, PLEASE let me know how it went (good or bad). Thanks in advance, I'll be back in the morning and hope to hear lots of stories...

| Hi Tricia, Lily came from the breeders microchipped. We haven't had a bit of trouble. In the beginning, it bothered me though. It is very small but you can feel a slight bump under her skin. Now I don't think much about it and it certainly doesn't seem to bother Lily. Good luck!!

| hi Lexi's_mom we put a mc in lexi when she was 10 wks. My uncle is a vet and we went to his home...he brought it home from the office. He showed it to me, then took her upstairs and placed it in her back by the shoulders. She cried a little, he said. When he brought her back downstairs to me she seemed a little scared but was fine. It was tender for a few days, if we picked her up wronge or touched it she yelped but she is 14 wks now and we don't even think about it. It is great to have and don't stress over it. She is only 2.2 lbs now, when he put it in she was 1.83. It will be fine. He will also spay her when the time comes. Good luck.

| Sounds like a good idea Lexi's mom. Stewie needs to be neutered and get his teeth pulled. I haven't really thought too much about a microchip, but after the positive feedback you got, it seems like it'd be a good idea.

| Does it hurt the dog if you brush too hard over the microchipped area? Is it something you have to work around? How big is the actual microchip, and how is it inserted into the skin? |

| Thanks, for all the info. centralnewyorki~ my vet showed me the chip, it is about the size of a grain of rice. I was also told by her that after a couple of days you can brush over it and go back to normal grooming and ect. Well, Wed. Lexi is going to be spayed, baby teeth pulled (only 3), deep ear clean, and Micro Chipped. My poor baby, I hope she forgives me.

| I have one dog microchipped and the other tattooed. I recently heard that there was some controversy on the chip site getting cancerous. I do not know if there is any truth in this or not but my breeder has gone from chipping to tattooing all her pups. For whomever asked, the chip is the size of a grain of rice, I can barely feel it now that my dog is older but I could when he was a baby. I also have my horses chipped and couldnt find those on a bet. |

| Her tatoo is on her belly, towards the side and back towards her thigh. |
