your baby is adorable and worth every penny! Dogs from good breeders will cost you less in the long run because you'll pay less in vet bills if your dog is healthy. Barking doesn't usually start until they're about 6 or 7 months, and its so cute when they find they're voice! I wouldn't worry about the whining too much, she's only 10 weeks old. As for sleeping alone.....dogs are pack animals and she should always sleep with her pack (that would be your family ;) ) because it will give her a sense of security. P.S. her ears are precious! |
Don't be guilty about the price you paid for . I paid mine $2.500.00 and don't have been guilty yet . She is a doll . Lol.....when they are wet , they all have strange looks . I can't hardly see Gazou after a bath . |
I think you're in the ballpark on price - I wouldn't feel guilty at all - she's cute and it's a pretty normal price.....Good luck...I keep seeing post saying they sell up to 10 grand and I don't think glorifying that price is a good idea - there's only a few sites that do that and they're not good sites at all. |
price NO way..$1500 is a very fair price for a nice pet Yorkie...we have members who paid double and triple for pets..relax. So much goes into price..area, type breeder, on and on...there is an ad for $200 Yorkies on here...that tranalates into " I spare all costs when breeding a litter"... |
I don't think $1500 is too bad....especially if you got her from a really good breeder. Sounds like you did the right thing to me. She is adorable!!!! Congrats! |
I think 15000 is very reasonable and like someone else said... a happy healthy pup is priceless! |
If you check around your area there is probably a low cost spay and neuter program that could save you some money on the spay. She's great! I wouldn't feel guilty if I were you, that extra money won't make or break you in the long run and you can't put a price on happiness!! |

:aimeeyork I got my Tiny Baci $1,500, not even direct from the breeder, (he was from a Pet shop) for the same price and our family loves him dearly...we could have gotten a differnt pup for far less but we fell in love with his temperment. I'm aware of puppy mills but my kids fell in love with Tiny and we just couldn't leave him there at the pet shop we had to take him home. he does not bark and he's 4 months old...only ocassionaly when he wants to sleep on my bed. Don't worry you'll be fine, I'm sure your pup will be worth every penny and will show you lots of love through many years :aimeeyork |
Great thread!! As always, I have to agree with Pat. I breed on a small scale and I am very particular when selecting Yorkies for my program and I too have paid a pretty penny for some over $2000....I myself tried to buy a bargin Yorkie and was burned several times. One time I the puppy I received was NOT the puppy I wanted to purchase, she was HUGE.. At 4 months she was 5 pounds..AAAND..I never did get her papers. I placed her in a pet home whom I still keep in contact with because she was sweet but now she weighs almost 10 pounds..LOL The other experience I had was I bought a puppy with sever LP (luxating platellas) in both knees at 12 wks. I want to be fair but I can't compromise my prices to do so. One thing that I have to do that costs me mucho money is take my expecting moms to my clinic's mid-wife 1 day before whelp and leave her there for laber watch..that costs me $85 a day...not including the costs for a c-section or assisted whelp to bring the pups into this world. I work full time so I can't be home and up all hours of the night waiting for the pups..besides, I am too worried I'd do somthing wrong when assisting with the delivery of the pups. I am very proud of my puppies they range anywhere from $1200-$3000..depending on the quality...you can see my latest litter of 5 girls at www.stellaryorkies.com The best thing to do is visit as many breeders as you can and talk to them. Sounds like the breeder you bought your baby from is very caring and kind. Those are hard to find. I commend your breeder. I always like to offer to anyone looking for a Yorkie to email me or call me with any questions. Even if I don't have something that suits you. I'd be happy to offer suggestions or referring friends of mine that I trust. On my links page of my site, I have included some rescue organizations that have sweet babies needing loving homes too. If I were breeding I would be even more particular about where I got my yorkie. But, she is just going to be a pet. I have no idea if she is even near show quality. The only thing I did not like about my breeder is that she sends pups home, if they are eating well and not too small, at 8 weeks. My puppy seems to young to be away from siblings and mom. She tries to suck on our ear lobes, and she is 10 weeks, almost 11!! :rolleyes: |

Neutering is cheaper. A couple of different vets quoted me the same price, essentially. Don't we have to tell the vets that we want them to use a specific kind of anesthetic with yorkies? |
I paid 1200 for my female so 1500 is probably not a bad price in your area. |
