| I've never given my dogs an oatmeal bath, so can't say how effective it is, but to make one you put a couple of heaped tablespoons of oatmeal in a muslin cloth, tie it up at the top & loop it round the hot tap so that the stream of water runs through it while the bath fills. It makes the water go milky & cloudy. Adding a teaspoon of oil to their dinner can help a dry skin, corn oil, sunflower or olive oil are good. It could be diet related. Several of my Cairns had dry skin from an allergy to most manufactured foods. It cleared up when I switched to an anti allergy diet. Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier, a dried kibble, is very good for keeping Yorkies' coats in good health, helps their teeth too. I think you can get it in America. Hope this helps. |

| Missing Link supplement is what I recommend. If you use the "search" tool, you can find many posts on this subject. Also, you can buy oatmeal based, sensitive skin shampoos that help and also soothe the skin. Good luck! |

| yorkies dont lose hair. Losing hair can be a sign of something medically wrong with your dog and needs to be checked by your vet

| yay Canadian!!! where in Canada?? Layla just had an oatmeal bath last night!! she has VERY Dry skin.. i put oatmeal in a stocking in the sink and used it as a cloth on layla. it makes their coat VERY smooth, they say "they being online website" you arent supposed to rinse it off but that sounded weird to me.. so we rinsed layla but did not shampoo her after.. i suppose you could before the oatmeal part... try not to blow dry either.. i'm going to try the olive oil her in wet food in the morning.. see if that helps.. i sure hope it does!!! great thread.. i'll be back to read what others have to say! |

| Do you have Aveeno products in Canada? They make an oatmeal bath product for two-legged people which someone here on YT once suggested. (I apologize because I've forgotten who wrote it!) It's called Aveeno Soothing Bath & they've got a Baby version of it too. I used the baby formula & then took Layla's Mom's tip of putting oatmeal in a sock...thanks for that, by the way! It really helped her dryness. CJ

| I also have a bathing question. I have no problems with britain as far as dry skin is concerned.....and her body always smells fresh, but I cant seem to get her to let me wash her face. So that always smells a bit off....i know that dunking her head under the water is not an option, so does anyone have any ideas on how to calm her down so I can get her face smelling as nice as the rest of her? Does anyone else have this problem? |

| Muffin is nearly 10 & she detests getting her face washed! What I finally started doing is to keep baby wipes near where I sit on the sofa & when she's in a calm mood, I wipe her face with those. I don't use the wipes with lotion in them because that will just stick to her hair. I try to do it every day, or every other day. It really helps with any "puppy" smells that may stick around her little face! If anybody else has a face washing trick, I'd love to hear about it. Layla's Mom...you're welcome for my tip on the Aveeno Soothing Baby Bath & now you gave me another great idea...the Aveeno lotion! Duh...why didn't I think of that?? Thanks, yet again! CJ & Muffin
