The nasal spray does cause more reactions than the injection according ti the literature I have read. I don't give any of mine the bordetella vaccine..just not as sure as I would like to be, that it is 100% effective..

Studies have proven that the bordatella shot doesn't really work. There are so many different kinds of kennel cough and if they do get it it is rarely fatal, almost always curable. I do not believe in vaccines after the initial puppy ones and never lepto, corona or bordatella and never combo shots. Please research the studies on vaccinosis and the potential harm that vaccines can cause. Some are necessary but there are a lot that are not and the risk does not outweigh the benefit.

snorts my chewie snorts occasionally too, my vet said it was because of a short snout he said its like having a pug or peke pup . it's something he may grow out of as he gets older. i did notice that the snorting has decreased over the last couple of weeks. it's mostly after he's had a few minutes of playing hoover vaccuum, or vigorous play.

Dennis also is a tiny, 2.3 LBS. Every month for the last 4 month since he was 8 weeks he has been getting puppy shots. Can’t remember ever getting so many. The first shot was fine he did not even flinch, the second and third he was not only sore, but had a huge lump where he got the shot and the next time he not only had the lump but he slept for 26 hours. This last round we gave him an asprin before we even gave him the shot and he was just fine. It is worrisome but necessary. I was very scared but I felt it had to be done. I just babied him to death and that seemed to bring us closer which was nice. Why not give him an asprin or a half before the shot, it seemed to really help Dennis. Sue

My vet automatically gives the little dogs prior to the vaccinations a benadryl shot just in case. Can't remember is she done it on just the first vaccinations or not. But let your vet know about your concerns and see if they think it's a good idea to give her a shot of benadryl. If that of course is what you want them to do.

New evidence seems to point to it lasting a year though.
