It seems to be true for mine. Chachi has a silky coat and his eyes always flash green. Ollie's coat is not silky and hers will flash red.

Thanks Pat...I hoped I wasn't quoting your in error about this test not ever failing you. Do you have a pic you would share of one of your girls showing their eye shine. It might help and give us a comparison. What one person perceives as a true green may actually have some yellow/amber color also. I think this creates some confusion as to true green eye shine.

LOL......yeah, I don't think there can be any "confusion" as to her eye shine!

Shelby & Seymour have pretty nice coats. Seymours coat is actually more silky than Shelby's (Shelby can get "cotton butt" if I don't groom her in a certain way... also using Ice on Ice). Shelby has "green eyes" on an occasional pic..... Seymour will have more purplish red eyes in some pics. By using the flash test, it is almost the opposite for us.

Im not sure but both of my dogs have silky coats now but maggies eyes are almost always pink for some strange reason, sometimes they look black on a close up shot but most often their pink. think she has pink eyes? lol just kidding. its not like that at all, her eyes do look pink tho and they have most of her life in pics.

Buddy has a silky coat and when I take pictures of him his
eyes are emerald green. Look:
