Puppy coat color and what does it mean? Mine is the small of the two with the black intermingled with the gold. Her name is Coco Yasmine Channel Hi I have been looking for a puppy for quiet a while now, and Yesterday I finally bought her! Well I put a deposit on her and I am picking her up next week! But she is the smaller of the 2 in these pictures, and I was wondering what it means when the black hairs are intermingled with the tan or gold hairs still? As you can see her sisters gold has already broken through, and the rest of her litter mates have too but hers. Does this mean that she will be black or steal blue or another color. Right now she is 8 weeks old and I am going to pick her up at 9 ? weeks old, as long as she is ready to go. If anyone knows what it means when the black is still intermingled with the gold I would love to find out. Thanks

Of the three puppies I saw in Tucker's litter, he was the smallest and the hair on his head had not broken through with any other color whereas his two brothers had their new color roots clearly visible. They were 8 weeks at that time. If I recall correctly, his brothers were breaking through to tan and when Tucker finally started showing his new color he has silver-white roots. Is that normal? This whole color stuff confuses me. I just know he is beautiful. Congrats on your new baby. She is a doll!!! I like her name!! Julie and Tucker

| Awww she is sooo cute and small, when I bought Bailey he was all black and tan now he is getting silverish (not exactly what I wanted) but me and Bailey have a very special relationship I think if he would turn purple I still would think he was the cutest thing LOL

Thanks she is just going to be a bundle of joy. Both of her parents are the darker steal blue and gold or tan. But its just so weird that the rest of her litter mates have already changed colors and she is still intermingled with black and tan. But hopefully she will change soon. Or does anyone know if that means that she would be what kind of color?

When I got my puppy she looked like that and she was the smallest too. Her sister looked like the one in the picture too. Mybe the smaller they are the longer it takes for the tan to come in. Hannah is 15 weeks old and the roots on her head is silver. I don't know what color she will end up but she is still beautiful. One pic is on her and her sister at 10 weeks old, Hannah is the one in the back and the other pic is her at 15 weeks old.
