| Crate Training does anyone crate train there puppies ?? I'm just curious what everyone has done ?? Ella is now 9 weeks old we crate train her when we are not home and when we go to bed , we are training her to go from crate to right outside to do her business and then when she is done she can play all she wants ... which let me add she loves to do .. she is a little bouncy girl we only crate train her when we go to bed until she gets a little bigger and older, which is sooo hard because i want her in bed with us and the other yorkies ... hehe .... I swear sometimes the yorkies think its there bed and they let us sleep in it LOL !! hehe !! Now she has a HUGE crate with blankets and some toys and water and food, she has enough room to feel comfy and happy and safe . so anyway i was just wondering everyones thoughts . Thanks

| YAY!!! I CRATE TRAIN!! lol. It woks like wonders when trying to potty train. But at 9 weeks you potty train outside???? My breeder told me to not let Teddy go outside, or to even put him on the ground ouside until he was a bit older.... But i dont know, this is my first puppy. Maybe they were being overprotective?? Im sure the other YT will jump in and help me with this one. I could be wrong. Its great he is learning!!! I would get VERY SAD b/c when i would leave the house, my baby would cry his little heart out.. It would break my heart . He gets really excited when i come home and let him out.. LOL. You sound like a great mommy!! Last edited by CH33KS4U; 01-01-2007 at 08:51 PM. |

| That sounds great! Before I got a yorkie, i read sooooo many times "how hard they are to housebreak." I cant beleive it, my baby was sooo easy to train. I live in Coral Springs, my name is Candice. Your post made me smile, b/c it makes me think of Teddy. He acts the same way. LOL! How many yorkies do you have? |

| Crate Training Works Wonders I've owned dogs all my life, and we have always crate trained them. Not that I'm an expert, but we have found that it does really work by encouraging the puppy to learn to control their bladder. They don't want to sleep in it, so they try and hold it as long as they can and as time goes by and the older they get, their bladders get bigger and they learn to hold it better. It's also a "safe haven" for them too. When we used to have company over and the dogs were young they would make their way down to the crate to feel safe if there were to many people in the house. We crated Deegan and all ouf our pets until about a year old, give or take depending on how fast they learned. Now he sleeps through the night with us in bed... mind you he wakes up at 7:30am every morning (weekend or not) to go potty and be fed. He's set like clockwork.
