| This is so weird. Does anyone's yorkie do this?? So I have been working on house training Destiny. Things are great except for one thing. She won't go to the bathroom in front of me. I put her on the pad and she will just sit their shaking the whole time. I have no idea why she does this. I have NEVER punished her, yelled at or scolded her for pottying, not even when she has an accident. I always praise her and reward her and just keep it positive, even my tone is positive and I always try to encourage her to go. As soon as I leave the room, she will go on the pad. She is house trained because she always goes on the pad, she just goes when I am out of the room. I have not the slightest idea why she does this. I want her to go in front of me because I thought if I am going somewhere and taking her with me, she needs to go to the bathroom. I mean she does go on the pad all the time, just not when I am in the room. I have tried over and over, day after day and she will not go in front of me. In fact, she would rather hold it all day long rather than go in front of me. Even when I first got her, it took her 3 days to go to the bathroom. She won't have an accident, she will hold it until I leave the room. Should I just give up and let her continue what she is doing?? Is she just shy?? I have never had this problem with a dog and I have no idea why she is like this.

| My Chanel is the same, she won't go when i'm looking. So i look away and sing... when she's done i make a fuss, but she will look at me like "what's that about" ... so now i leave her, if she wants me to fuss, she runs to me with the "did you see that mom" look on her face. It took me a while to "get it" because sometimes she wants the praise, and other times she doesnt. I guess she is a shy girl. |

| I know some people who have the same problem when they are walking their dogs on a leash - the dogs won't go. They just don't want to go with a person that close to them. I always thought it was because the dogs thought they might be in trouble. But - maybe not..... Carol Jean |

| Shy puppy Freyja is the same way. She will go on the pad but she hates to do it with anyone looking. I have to turn and look away from her. Maybe it's just a yorkie thing. |

| Yes, Snickers does the same thing. If I am in the laundry room when he has to go, he stands on the pee pad and looks at me as if saying, "leave the room". I have to walk out and peek at the doorway, and then he'll go. I always thought he just wanted his privacy.
