So I have been working on house training Destiny. Things are great except for one thing. She won't go to the bathroom in front of me. I put her on the pad and she will just sit their shaking the whole time. I have no idea why she does this. I have NEVER punished her, yelled at or scolded her for pottying, not even when she has an accident. I always praise her and reward her and just keep it positive, even my tone is positive and I always try to encourage her to go.
As soon as I leave the room, she will go on the pad. She is house trained because she always goes on the pad, she just goes when I am out of the room.
I have not the slightest idea why she does this.
I want her to go in front of me because I thought if I am going somewhere and taking her with me, she needs to go to the bathroom. I mean she does go on the pad all the time, just not when I am in the room. I have tried over and over, day after day and she will not go in front of me. In fact, she would rather hold it all day long rather than go in front of me. Even when I first got her, it took her 3 days to go to the bathroom. She won't have an accident, she will hold it until I leave the room. Should I just give up and let her continue what she is doing?? Is she just shy??
I have never had this problem with a dog and I have no idea why she is like this.
