Who here has 4 lbs and below yorkies? Hi Everyone! I was just wondering how common 4 lbs yorkies are. I bought my Coco from a breeder on the internet and upon visiting Kana and Momiji here from Yorkie Talk, I saw a huge difference in size of both puppies. They are only two weeks apart. My point is, my Coco is supposed to be 3.5-4 lbs, but she is 4 months now and is 3.5lbs already. I'm a little disappointed with what the breeder told me because Coco is not turning out to be small. I'm thinking maybe she'll slow down in her development, but I doubt it. Of course this doesn't change my feelings for Coco. I think she's who she is and I'm grateful, but I would love to get at least a third of my money back from that wretched breeder!! So does everyone here have small yorkies or bigger yorkies? I'd like to know. Thanks!!:D |
Grayson is almost 6 months old and weights almost 3 pounds I think he will be 4 pounds grown and I was told to expect him to be a big boy 7 to 10 pounds so I guess you never know huh? |
i have a big yorkie no breeder can guarantee size |
I do, but mine are still puppies. Ben ($1200) is 2.8 pounds at 4 months. It looks like Sadie will be bigger than him and I actually paid more for her ($1500). I hope both are in the 4-6 pound range. |
It is very nearly impossible to forecast the adult size of a young pup. My Peppy is 3.25 lbs and Kiko is 4.25 lbs. Both are very healthy and very active and have more courage and "heart" than dogs 20 X their size. |
I just hope she grows up to be pretty! I don't really mind having a bigger pet anymore because when I went for a walk one time, I saw this beautiful 17lbs yorkie! Her name was Buttercup and she was adorable!! Even though she was big, she had such a healthy glowing coat!:) |
Peeka is 8 months and he is 4 lbs 3 ozs |
My boys were 2 pounds 3 oz. and 2 pounds 9 oz. at 4 months. They are now 1 1/2 and 2 and they weigh 4pounds 2 oz. and 4 pounds 4 oz. They both seemed to stop growing between 6 and 7 months. I kind of figured Jo would stay small but I wasn't sure about Riley. |
My Dixie was suppose to be smaller than 5 pounds and she is 6, I dont care, she is my baby...and MY Peanut, weighs 3.5 lbs that is what i was told he would be around, not sure if he is done growing yet, but I think Dixie is....what ever they turn out at, is a.o.k. with me :) I love my babies no matter what :) |
This makes me want something smaller now. Maybe I'll get a new one for Coco to play with. |
My yorkie is 3 yrs old and weighs 3.1 lbs.! From what I've read, there are 3 sizes of yorkie's teacup (not really officially recognized) toy and standard. I really don't know if that is true. |
I was looking for a smaller Yorkie when I found Pepper and was told he'd stay less than 4 lbs. Well, it looked like that but out of sudden, he's already 4.5 lbs at 6.5 months... He'll still grow, the vet estimates him between 5-6 lbs but oh well, he's still so tiny to me anyway :) |

But then two are even more to love. I cannot tell you how happy we are with the decision to get a second puppy. It is a lot with two trying to house break. But to watch them play together, curl up together in their bed, and always having one ready for puppy kisses ... ah, so worth it! |
We were told Eddie was going to be 2-3 pounds. LOL. He's 9.5, and we couldn't be happier. |
Kasey is almost a year old and is 2 lb, 2 oz. I wish he had gotten a little bigger, but we love him anyway....obviously. |

Am I the only one who feels this way? Just curious... |
Chewy is 4.2 pounds at eight months..... but I have to say... as far as I am concerned, even if they get to be 15 pounds or so that is still a SMALL dog. I know standard is 7 pounds or under and I was told chewy would be around 7 pounds...but he is from a pet shop and I knew they didn't know how big he would be. i can't help but think that size is focused on way to much... As long as the baby is healthy wouldn't that be enough to make us all happy? |
Abby is 3 yrs old and 2 lbs 9 oz. Carson is 5.1 lb and 1 yr old the best way to have a small dog is buy them when they are at least 5 mos, but they are hard to find. i bought Abby and Carson when they where 5 mos old. |
Hi, I have a 16 month old yorkie, Dylan. He's 6 pounds and I love every pound and inch of him. I was told he was going to be 4 pounds, but I'm glad he's bigger. I think I would have been so nervous with a tiny dog. I would like to get him a friend, another yorkie. Do you think is better to get another one when he was smaller or do I still have time? I would like for Dylan to get along with the new one. Please advise |
Gracie is 3.5 lbs and almost 9 months |
my Tootie was "supposed" to be 8-9 lbs.... he is 16 lbs and WONDERFUL! Hopey is 4lbs, 9 ozs... I am much more nervous with her, since she is so tiny.. I love them both, just the same and wouldnt trade either one of them for anything. d |
My little bundle of joy is 10 mths old and weighs 2.9. Although he is tiny he is also healthy. He is so friendly and loves everyone! |
My Tinkerbell is 1 year old and weighs 3 1/2lbs:p I have no problems with her:thumbup: |
My Rocky is 3 1/2 pounds (5 years old), my Jasmine is 3.4 pounds (2 years old), my Butch is 3.3 pounds (a little over a year old), my Bitsy is 3.6 pounds (a little over a year old). None of them I would consider "fragile". :) |
Debbie was 2.7 pounds at 7 months when she was spayed and 8 months later only weighed 2.9 pounds at 15 months. Some yorkies are almost full grown at 6 months while others keep getting bigger.I think it's very hard to gauge. Some yorkies grow quickly early on and then some have a growth spurt after that. As they mature, they may also fill out and get a little heavier. All you can do is wait and see. It would be interesting to see everyone report on age and weight to see if there was some kind of pattern. |

Jaden is 4 pounds and is two years old. My new baby girl that I am getting is expected to be right under 4 pounds. I do agree that the smaller ones are harder to take care of. You worry about them so much, at least I do. I am constantly keeping an eye on Jaden making sure he doesn't jump off anything to high or climb up on something he shouldn't and when other dogs are around that weigh more than him I can't just let him roam or let them play together because he will get hurt. Also, I always have to have a coat or a sweater on him when we're outside because he gets cold. I love him to death and love his size but there are benefits to having a "bigger" yorkie say a 5-7 pound one. |
When I got Keifer at 3 months he was 3 pounds. Now he is 6 months and still is under 4 pounds, he got bigger but not much heavier. Guess he won't make the 5 to 6 pounds that was predicted. But he is healthy and strong so I am very happy. |

To be honest, I am more frustrated with the size the breeder told me she would be and the price I paid for her. But I guess this is my fault and should have done more research. This is my first puppy and first real pet, so I just wanted things to be in the "as expected" scenario. But I am very happy with her regardless of her size. I agree with you though of the constant worriness of having a small pup. I wouldn't be able to enjoy all the things I enjoy with Coco, such as running on the beach and squeezing her harder, dancing with her....it's great! I'm looking forward on seeing her grow up and change colors. She's getting prettier every time I look at her. |
Kodak is 2yrs old at 3lbs, I'm looking for another tiny playmate the same size. |
