Swimming Anyone? Well, I think it's offical....Hefner is a water dog!! I posted a story this weekend about Hefner diving off the dock on Mother's Day and I hoped he had "learned his lesson" from that. We just had our pool finished and filled with water and he is now using the coping as his race track and he loves to jump in where the steps are luckily! I have ordered a "scamper ramp" to allow animals to get out easily, and I can't wait til it arrives. Our other pool had a "beach entry" which was great for the dogs! We didn't do it this time and I am kicking myself! Hefner and Chai are always supervised when they are outside, but accidents happen and I am petrified he will sneak out, no one will know and he will jump in and not make it to the step. Do most yorkies like the water?

Thanks for supplying the link for the doggie life vests! I have a pool in my back yard and have been a nervous wreck so I will definitely be ordering a life vest for him as soon as I get off of here. He hates his bath so I can't imagine he would enjoy swimmming but as you said accidents can happen and I would be heart sick if anything happened to him. Is there anyone else out there that's dog enjoys swimming?

Rocky loves to swim in our pool, dont know about Maya, but Haley isnt crazy about it, she would rather lay out on the float. What is this thing you ordered? I need to look into that becuse we tried to teach Rocky the stairs but Im scared he forgot from last summer. It is a ramp where they can get out?

A doggy life vest! Thats cute and a really good idea! Lucy hates water! She refuses to even go out for a walk in the rain! The only water she will go in is in the park there is a big moat, but there is a little kind of dam bit with a trickle of water and she will stand in that. The only other time she has been in water (appart from bath) is in the local wildlife preserve where there is a stream and she paddled in it once on a really hot day. Thats it, she just hates being wet!

For anyone with a pool or pond, here is the website address for the "ramp" that helps them climb out. http://www.pooltoy.com/scupto45.html

My dog loves the water. In fact I tried to use a squirt bottle to disuade her from barking and other things I don't want her to do. But it didn't work, she begs me to squirt her. She has a blast playing with the water hose outside and loves her baths. I couldn't believe how she reacted to the rain this last week! She cracks me up. She was trying to catch every drop. Thanks for the info about the pool ramp. That's a great idea!
