| Omg! Alright so I called Tony's breeder today to ask a teething question and tell her about this wierd coloring that is coming in on my baby and it turns out that he could be parti. She has partis at her place and thinks that somehow Tony could be parti, but she wants to wait until his coat grows out more (he has random colorings, like white, brown and black, he also has really light feet, that are growing out white)... She said that if he did change, she would give me full breeding rights! I have mixed feelings about this. She wants to turn my little lover into a sex machine! What do y'all think? |

| I say let him have some fun for a few years, then get him fixed. Could be some good money for you! Congrats!

| Sounds like the breeder doesn't actually know who the daddy of the dog is (she should have know he was breed to be a parti to start with). I would make sure to get him DNA tested before I breed him and making sure he is out of the dogs he is said to be out of. otherwise you may end up with a mess when you breed him if AKC would happen to step in and say that this dog isn't out of the said parents.

| How would the breeder be able register him if she didn't know who the father is??

If I paid for a pure bred standard Yorkie and wound up with a Parti, I would not be a happy camper. Not that the Parti is not a great dog, just that if you pay for one thing, you expect to get it. Her not knowing for sure looks pretty sloppy. If she bred a parti with a standard color, then she should have told you up front.

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | well i heard you can get a Parti from two standard yorkies it's something in the genes and maybe the breeder doesn't know that so she thinks that her parti got to tha dam? But i believe it is possibly for to normal yorkies to produce a parti so if there is question yes have the dna done before breeding.

| Hummmmmm I am not so sure that I would be happy about that......especially if I paid for a full blooded yorkie.... Was the "full breeding rights" supposed to be a benefit??? Esp if one parent is parti and the other is a regular yorkie......??????? Not sure about this one...... |

| Parti's are 100% yorkie, they are just a rare genetic variation. My concern here would be if a breeder does not know which dogs paired presenting the possibility of a party, well that is pretty irresponsible, exacerbated only by the fact she is willing to pass that irresponsibility on and continue lines no one is really quite sure of, and why did she not provide papers either limited or full when the dog was purchased? Something smells funny here... Tony does sound beautiful and unique though and you should be proud!

| My guess is because having a parti she could have sold it for a lot more than just a yorkie, a refund would not occur to her.

| She probably listed the parents correctly. Since she has some partis - your pups parents could have had some recessive genes that came forward in your little pup. Personally - I got my little Yorkie for pet - and if he had turned out to be tri-colored - I would have been thrilled. This little guys are unusually beautiful and extremely cute. This would certainly would not be a disappointment to me. Regardless of what color my pup turned out to be - I would still have gotten him neutered because I have never had any desire to breed any of my dogs. However, if you do decide to breed him - lucky him! I see nothing wrong with this at all. I'll bet you have one darling little Yorkie. I wouldn't worry about his registration at all. Breed or don't breed - and enjoy this special, and I'm-sure-beautiful, little Yorkie that you have. I think you lucked out! Carol Jean |
