| If Not PETA...then what? I don't know a lot about People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) but when I posted that maybe we should help them put puppymillers out of business there was at least one member who felt PETA was maybe not the appropriate organization for that. Are nay of you members of PETA or know anything about any organizations who help puppymill animals in general? |

| I have to say that I don't know the details of the PETA organization but have recently been researching them because of their IAMS cruelty campaign. I started because they had a great job opportunity I was looking into but had to step back and really research such an outspoken organization before accepting a job. I think people have fairly strong opinions about organizations like this and they tend to be either one way or the other. If I find out anything relevant in my research I'll be sure to share! |

| Peta Kim..shall we start another mess? LOL I am sure there are many great people in Peta..I have not had the pleasure of meeting them. I have had the displeasure of meeting a few who were downright scary! Do you know they were responsible from a poisoning at a dog show a few years ago? I do not agree with killing animals for fur coats, but no one has the right to attack people who do..and I have seen people attacked in NY. I am not in favor of commerical kennels, but sending people undercover to set fires is beyond sane. I think it is no different then some of the radical antitabortionist who feel anything to prevent an abortion is fair..even bombing clinic's and murdering doctors...I do not disagree with the cause, but the way they do it. The puppymill site rescue we talked about on here is the most wonderful organization, also Small Paws..go to their site..she is wonderful!!!!! They buy dogs from auctions.. ALso, I knew an attonery who was former member..she told me she got too much flack for owning dogs. Many peta members are against pet ownership. They are totally against breeding. Even if I was not a breeder I would not be in favorite of making breeding illegal. The problem IMO is Peta targets the wrong people. What do you think is a biggest animal problem in America...I think it is puppymills, but I see Peta doing nothing in that area like the Iams or anti fur stuff. | quote The President of Peta, Ingrid Newkirk said they were against any animal reseach for medical reaspons.. but the Vice President of Peta, Mary Beth Sweetland uses insulin which is the result of these testings..she saw no conflict. They are against the use of Police dogs and seeing eye dogs. Last edited by YorkieRose; 05-08-2005 at 05:50 PM. |

| thanks Thanks Fran...I could not think of her site...if Peta took some of the 14 million they received last year and donated to these types of rescues, it would make a world of difference..Peta made $200,000 in donations out of 14 million. I told you not to get me started...I will stop..sorry. Last edited by YorkieRose; 05-08-2005 at 05:51 PM. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | here what he said first you can get involved as much as you want, it can be as simple as writing letters to senators or joining protest, demonstrations. if your a little shy about getting to invovled you can do the letter writing, theres a section on PETA's website that shows how to write letters well, we are activist, some don't always follow the law.. (to the letter) most do. personally I have broken laws saving animals ( thats me) not all go that far. Theres over a millon PETA members world wide,so you get all types radical, hard core, manestream. Theres lots of ways to be involved with PETA without going to protests and/or demonstrations. www.peta.org i dont know if this answers your questions i think we should be able to have a good conversation here on yt and i hope every stops arguing over everything everyone has there own opinion this is a loving place i hope it stays that way ! |

| I guess we may not find one organization that is not controversial at all. I was just hoping to find a way to put some "action" to our words. We are always complaining about puppymills and bad breeders but there doesn't seem to be an organization to report these too that has authority to do anything in a less than radical and legal way. Does anyone know of one? |
