| White patches on chest? i had a lady call me after I had already sold Fancy wanting a puppy. i told her I would be having some more so she camee to look at my dogs. Shee lives near me. She said she wwent to some one else's hous and looked at puppies. She said mine didn't look like hers so sshe thinks the other lady is trying to trick her. She said the little girl she wanted had a white patch on her chest. She said the man and woman told her that is okay and it usually is a sign that they will be blue and gold. Well, i don't know about that but I have always heard the patch will turn gold. Ceeby had a small onee when i got him and it disappeared in a few weeks and he has light gold in that area. She didn't buy the puppy because of this. What do you all say about it? She thought it was a defect but I don't think so in my limited knowledge. |

| I too am of limited knowledge, but everything I've heard about little white patches (or 'star' shaped white patches on the chest) are a good sign as to the ultimate outcome of their coat.

| White patch of hair on the chest is a sign of good quanity of coat - check out Gordan and Bennett (Wildweir) book @ Yorkshire Terriers. Yes, the white will change to the gold/tan color later in months. Usually a much thought after sign in puppies. We have a lot of people that will ask about this on YT. T. |

| When I first started to look for a Yorkie, I was not familiar with the white patch on some Yorkie's chests. I decided against a little one because of it. Then I learned that it is usually a sign that they will have a silky coat and the white normally goes away. I probably passed on a perfect little puppy! Thankfully, I still wound up with one. I think there is information about it on one of this site's stickies.

| good news!!!!!!!! Well, that is good to know. kandy and Ceeby's babies have white on their chests (some of them) and after I got to thinking about what that lady said to me i was really worried. kandy and ceeby both are blue/gold and silky coated. both are from great judabob championship lines. so, I knew the puppies are well breed. But seeing it, triggered what that lady said about thinking it was a defect. proud momma that I am, I just couldn't see my new babies having a defect. |

| My Scampers had white on his chest when he was younger. It turned to gold and he has a beautiful thick coat.

| Shayna has white on her chest and at least a little bit of white on each paw, one paw going almost all the way up her leg! i think its the cutest thing and its actually the reason i picked her over her sister...I feel bad for her sometimes though because everyone always thinks she a mix because of the white, but shes pure yorkie! but anyways, i think she has a cotton coat, im not sure. shes only 4 months old so the white hasnt changed that much...but i have noticed that her legs are turning more gold where it was white, except for the leg that has a lot of white. But she has a very soft, thick coat. so i personally think there is nothing wrong with white, and since its not very common in yorkies, it makes them special!
