Has anyone else had this problem?? Snickers was sick (nothing serious) and the vet told me to feed him boiled chicken, carrots, & rice for about two weeks. He absolutely LOVED his food, but now....he won't go back to his normal diet. I free feed royal canine & he gets a little bit of wet food in the evening. He's eaten very little the past few days. Any ideas???

WOW. Someone has the same problem as me!!! Penny grewup on chicken and rice and now that shes a year and 4 months. I have tried to slowly progress her to more dog food than people food. Well, its a slow process, I give her dry chicken soup dog food mixed with missing link vitamins and chopped chicken. Every morning, then for dinner she gets just dry and some science diet wet foor. She eats, but not much.. I cant belive she isnt getting sick. Or losing weight. Hang in there, it will get better ( I think)...

I also experienced that problem with Buddy. After being sick and on chicken and rice for a couple of months kibble became the enemy. What I do now is add alittle bit of boiled chicken to his kibble each feeding and bowl is licked clean. I boil chicken breasts and freeze them and take one out as needed. Worked like a charm. You can also add greenbeans or carrots to the kibble. I don't however freefeed. The trick is to trick them. Good luck.

Thanks for the ideas. The first couple of nights, I was mixing in a little bit of chicken & carrots still, but the little stinker picked through & ate the good stuff only (making a nice mess on the floor). I never thought of freezing the chicken.....good idea because really I wouldn't mind keeping him on a diet with real meat mixed in, if I weren't having to cook it constantly. The rice has to go though, because he choked on it once & it scared me to death! I guess I'll go back to mixing for awhile & try to be patient!!
