| Dry Skin Do any of your babies have dry skin? Benley has dry skin and its not like horrible but he does have it all over and he scratches a lot. When we took him to get groomed about a month ago we told them he had dry skin and to use special shampoo but I dont really think it worked because his skin was still dry when we picked him up. I think Im going to by something at Petsmart for dry skin but there is so many products I dont know which one to get! If any of you know of a good product to prevent or help dry skin that would be great! Thanks! |

| Leila has that. She scratches all the time!!! To the point where I've noticed flakes on her and she gets red spots on her belly and in her armpits. I also tried a special shampoo and that didn't help. Somone on here recommended Missing Link supplement so I bought some of that yesterday. We will see if it works! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Ooooooohh oooooohhhh !! I got something to try !!! lol......I feel like Horseshack on Welcome Back Kotter !! I have a total water baby - Chanel played outside last summer EVERY day in the hose and she started itching terribly !~ What I bought her was a SKIN MOISTURIZER called Veternarians Best Moisture Mist Conditioner.......This is what the bottle says....Detangles Hair (not that well) and Relieves Dry Skin (worked for me !) I got mine at Petco - I had used oatmeal shampoos ...spray on Anti itch stuff and nothing worked till I tried this - IT's 8 bucks and to me it saved my girl from misery. It's one of the few things I've tried that worked in less than 12 hours - she hasn't scratched SINCE last year - It's NOT a conditioner for their hair - it's for their skin... but it made her stop itching after 2 weeks of scratching and suffering ....course your baby could have allergies or something else going on - so maybe ask your vet also - but this really worked wonders for Chanel !! I just made her album playing in the hose here...Chanels PICTURES she has such a blast but it's tough on her hair

| My Yorkie Riley has super dry skin. I am looking for something to relieve him of it. He scratches so much he has little scabs! And, they AREN'T from fleas or mites. Maybe I'll try the stuff red93vett suggested. Where do you purchase it at? |

A hot spot is a little area they nibble on that can turn bad...it's not overall itching ...just certain areas that become inflamed and torment dogs and can get infected if not helped

In Chanels case I pretty much knew it was the water and being outside so much that her hair or skin dried out - but I use this Spray on once a week now and it's helped alot... by the way - it's a LEAVE IN - I usually spray - rinse so it goes thru to her skin - then spray a little more on - it also smells GREAT !

| I also read about the missing link supplement on another thread. I may try that sometime. Any product with flax seed, which contains Omega 3 fatty acids is really good for your pups coat. I give Bo 1/8 teaspoon of ground flax seed in his food twice a day and his coat is really full and pretty. Bo weighs over 7 pounds. You would give less for a smaller pup. He doesn't scratch at all hardly. You can get ground flax seed at Walmart. BTW flax seed is also good for our heart and skin.

| Here I Go again! the official spokeswoman for Missing Link! Lol! I do really recommend the Missing Link Supplement! It worked for me! When I got Oreo & 8 weeks old. He had the worst Dry and flakey skin ever! I though only humans get dandruff! but he had the worst case! and he was always sooo itchy! My vet suggested to use Missing Link because it has worked for her. So I did and I absolutely LOVE it. WIthin a few weeks, Oreo's skin was not dry and flakey anymore. (i used this in conjuction with a diet change - to Innova) . and he has great skin now, like he's never had dry skin! So i debated, was it really the missing link supplement that worked? well i took Oreo off of it for 3 months... and in those three months, what do you know? The FLAKES and DRY SKIN came back! .. I put him back on the supplement and low and behold, gone! So you should try it, I hope you do, and if you do i hope it works as well as it worked for mE! |

I used oatmeal shampoo on Oreo as well and it didn't help, maybe it was either the brand i used or Oreo's skin was way to dry for the shampoo to help, it actually made my Oreo's skin dryer, just to let you know be careful! but i want to try that itch spray as well. just in case.
