| Covering their food??? Does any of your yorkies try to cover their food??? I have seen my cat scratch at his food and never thought much of it... But Chewy tries to take the rug and he flips it to cover his food over! In his crate he takes the blanket and covers it!!! he gets Royal canin puppy... what's not to like? He does eat itwhen he is good and ready to! So weird!

| lol, I love watching them try to bury their food, especially because they often pick the most difficult locations to do it! I'll tell my dogs "No" if I spot them doing it and usually pick up whatever it is that they're in the process of trying to hide. I don't want them to rub the top of their nose raw. It sounds like he was just trying to "save it for later", that's all! |

| Certain treats that Topher gets he tries to bury in the rug...lol or bury them with his nose. He tries so hard, the little love! Just a natural instinct to bury things....saving for later, I'd assume. They sure are cute to watch. Topher has a favorite place in the cushions of the sofa...it's amazing what you find in there sometimes! |

| It's so funny to hear other yorkies such as mine doing it as well. I thought it was something that my older Yorkie only did, til I got my younger one. They do it alot with their food. I noticed it one day when I tried to give them treat and they tried to bury it with a cover. It was cute but I didn't want them hurting their cute lil noses, so I stopped em about a few attempts.

| Starsky hides special treats if he isn't ready to eat them from Shylah and Haggis. He generally will bury them in a blanket or something. Shylah runs whatever she doesn't want Starsky or Haggis to get up to the top of the stairs and leaves them there. Sometimes I'll come up there and there is a whole pile of toys she has brought up there. Starsky and Shylah both guard their food if they haven't eaten it all. Haggis generally likes to clean up after them and he is not supposed to. They seem so stressed just sitting there watching it. So I'll pick it up and then they are fine. Aren't they funny!

| Siu Pao likes to hide his bully stick and flossie from me to save for later and to avoid me from keeping them because sometimes i give him a few hours a day and then keep them so that he doesn't get bored with them. He always changes his hiding place though. It could be on the bathroom rug, by the shoe rack, under the couch, by the wall. It is usually easy to see though

| My babies do that too!!! I've been wondering about that too. We have two furbabies and both are two years old now. Cleo never does something weird like this but our Ceasar had done that ever since we got them. If he doesn't like to eat he would nudge and push the bowl or he is inside his kennel he would shred the newspaper that I use to line the bottom of the kennel and I would be so surprised to see that the bowl would be covered with the shredded newspaper. I did some reading on this and some books said that it is an instinctive canine manner that they would try to dig to bury food/bone or cover food with dry leaves/branches to save the food for later. That is really interesting to know that a lot of them do that too. |
