| 2nd Yorkie Boy or Girl?? My husband and I are pretty decided we are going to get another yorkie sometime next February or March. We have a boy now and I'm thinking I want a girl, to have 1 of each. My husband differs with me completely and wants another little boy. We've been told that the female yorkies are more moody and aloof, while the boys love to play and are more social. I'm just wondering if these are myths or truths? We have some time to decide but I wanted to start looking early since girl yorkies seem to be few and far between, or they are the first ones to go! Any opinions/stories are appreciated! Also do breeders allow you to bring your dog to meet the baby you might be taking home? I wouldn't think so because the puppies may not have all their shots, but I don't really know. |

| My first yorkie was a boy, Hobbs, and we loved him so much that my husband and I also decided to get another yorkie. Like you, we debated on whether to get another boy or a girl, but ultimately chose to get a little girl. I am so happy we did. I love the combination of having one of each. Even though I don't put clothes on either of mine (unless it is Auburn Football t-shirt or something), I like that I can do "girly" things with my little girl. I have lots of pink stuff for her (like bed, collar, harness, leash) and all my little boy's stuff is blue (bed, collar, harness, leash, etc.). As far as personality, I think it really depends on the dog. My 2 are brother and sister, from the exact same parents, but my little girl is obviously from a later litter. My boy is a lot more active...he is always in your face wanting to play. He has a VERY big personality! My little girl is so laid back. She is a true lap dog! I wouldn't say that my girl is more independent than my boy, though. They both love me just the same. So, I dunno. I feel like if I had ANOTHER boy like Hobbs, they would just wear me out!!!!!!!! I like having one that is very active and one that is more laid back. They were both equally as hard/easy to potty train. We were very vigilant about it, so both of them were potty trained in what seemed like no time at all. |

| I agree RLC two boys just seems like a lot!! They'll both always want your attention and not dad's really! Atleast thats how Baloo is. I'm just hoping to find that laid back girl like yours! I just hate how breeder's want a non-refundable deposit, especially if I end up meeting the little girl and she isn't at all what I want or wouldn't fit well with Baloo. But I know the breeder has to protect their business. It seems like both of you have girls that are pretty laid back, I just hope that whether its a boy or girl the next one will be more laid back (oh please let it be a girl! lol) thanks for your help! I think I'm gonna stick with the next one being a girl and convince my husband likewise! |

Well, if it makes you feel better, my sister and parents both have girl yorkies and they are both SUPER laid back. My sister's yorkie is seriously the most laid back dog I've ever met. My aunt has a boy yorkie who acts just like my Hobbs...always busy and always wanting to play and always in your face. My girl and my sister's girl are cuddlers, but my parents' girl is not a cuddler. However, my boy is ALSO a cuddler. I really think it just depends on the individual dog and a lot is about how it is raised. And you are right...it is going to be YOU that is going to be taking care of them and YOU that the boys are going to want to play with...not hubby. It's so fun having one of each, in my opinion. I will ALWAYS have one of each. | |

| Baloo cuddles enough for two! He never gets enough of licking you and being all over your face, hands and feet! Especially when I get home from work! And then for the rest of the night I have to play with him to get him to calm down. I'm hoping a playmate will alleviate some of his loneliness and anxiety when he is left at home for long periods of time and not aggravate the problem. Until then (and after he gets his rabies shots) he'll go to doggy daycare twice a week. As a bonus I'm fond of the idea of putting gorgeous ribbons and bows in my little girl's hair! lol I'm so excited just thinking about it and February seems like such a long time to wait! I guess this will teach me patience |

| Oooooh, I'm so glad you posted this! Max is the same way whenever I go ANYWHERE. When I come back home, he races around in circles and then runs to somewhere soft, and turns over on his back so I can give him a "belly rub" and then I have to pick him up and he can lick my face all over for a few minutes. He's totally all boy; loves to play, get into things, but he also loves to just lie on my lap when I'm on the computer or watching television or reading. He's really pretty laid back. And we take him out to restaurants all the time and he's really calm. He has two sisters; one loves to play with him, running around their yard, but she isn't outgoing at all; she hates being around a lot of people (her owner has tons of big parties all the time and she just runs and hides) and doesn't play the same way Max does even when he's on his own. His other sister, though, who is about 1/3 his size, is really outgoing and loves to play, so I guess it just depends on the dog. The mom is more aloof for sure; she acted like she'd never seen Max before in her life, LOL. Must have been the child-birth trauma, hehe. But seriously, the mom when she came over to visit once, wanted nothing to do with any of the other dogs at all. The other reason I'm so glad you posted this, is b/c I'm going to get a job, and I've been stressing out about leaving Max alone all day~ in fact, was going to post something about it. Now I have a really good reason to get another puppy ! I've always had at least one of each, no matter what animal I had, so I'd get a girl this time. I think they're all loving, but I was thinking that having 2 boys, they might be too competitive? Good luck whichever you get; I'm sure it will be a loving little furbaby!

| I'd get a girl. they have cuter clothes . just kidding. I have one of each and they have about the same personality. If your husband feels girls can be moody. Explain to him that that problem, if any, should end when you get her spayed (if you plan on doing that)

| I have two boys and they are quite a handful. They play hard, wrestle, jump, fly through the air, run around like maniacs and want constant attention. They're both mama's boys. I love them to death, but they can be exhausting! We're thinking about getting a third, and it definitely will be a female.
