| Should I Get Another Yorkie ?? We have a female yorkie that just turned 1. We are thinking of getting another one for Reesie to play with and keep her company during the day while we are at work. I feel very lucky with Reesie because she was so easy to potty train and I'm afraid if I get a new puppy Reesie will revert back to wetting on the carpet if she see's the puppy doing it. I just need some help with the pros and cons of introducing a new puppy to the family. Reesie is very friendly towards all pets and people so I don't think she will be jealous. Also I wondering if maybe the puppy will be easier to train because she will follow Reesie's lead. Help !!! |

| I found it almost easier with two yorkies, now I have three... and I enjoy all three. I say get another one.... just my opinion. I have never been sorry we increased our yorky family.

| Before I got my 2nd yorkie, I worried about these exact same things. Even though Hobbs is obsessed with other dogs and animals, he was jealous once he realized that Hootie was staying for good. Hobbs did get pissed and peed on the carpet a couple of times while he was getting used to Hootie, but by the 2nd week of having Hootie, everything was perfect! Hobbs was a really big influence in helping potty train Hootie. I actually think potty training Hootie was easier because we just took her and Hobbs out together and she would do whatever Hobbs did. I love having 2 yorkies. From now on, I will always have 2. I love that they are now the bestest of friends and that they keep each other company when we're not at home. I don't feel so guilty anymore about leaving him to go out to dinner at night sometimes, either. I highly recommend 2. Your original yorkie may be jealous at first and may get pissed and pee on the floor a couple of times, but in the long run it is so worth it. Hootie and Hobbs are now inseparable. They are both very well potty trained. Hobbs is 1 year old and Hootie is 5 months old. We got Hootie when Hobbs was 8 months old. |

| Thankyou so much for your help. We've enjoyed Reesie so much, but yorkies all have differant personalities so I was concerned about behavioral problems. |

| Ditto what Rebecca Said I would just say "Ditto" to everything Rebecca said...I had pretty much the exact same experience with getting a second. First couple of days can be kind of rocky...but great after that!! I don't and never have regretted it for an instant!

| You mean there are Yorkie people out there who only have one Yorkie Of course you need another one (I can send you one or two ) I think that it actually helps the second one when you have one that is potty trained. Roxi goes out and piddles then Titan will follow her and do it in the same spot.

| I highly recommend getting another one!!! I think they love the companionship and work better in pairs. I started out with one, then got another a couple of years later. But after my first one died of collapsed trachea last year unexpectedly, my second little girl went into mourning and quit eating. My breeder suggested getting another yorkie and ended up GIVING me one. It's the best thing that ever happened and snapped my little girl right out of her depression. We've had this tiny little girl almost a year now, and altho we are still having a time housebreaking, she and her sister are the sunshines of my life!!! I'll always have more than one. There was a bit of jealousy at first, but it soon disapears and now they are like two peas in a pod! I vote YES...get another one!!!! |

| Hummmm, let me think!? We had a maltese before the Yorkie and we felt she needed a buddy even though I do not work and am home all day with her. Wow, what a difference it has made in her......and he is the cutest, sweetest little guy. He plays a little rough with her and she is so gentle with him. But he is one yr. old and she is 4, so I'm hoping he will calm down a little and stop ripping her bows out of her hair (the little stinker). We've only had him six months and we are his third home so I he's still adjusting. But, yes, I do think it is a good idea to have two dogs........so go for it, get that new baby. |
