We had a maltese before the Yorkie and we felt she needed a buddy even though I do not work and am home all day with her. Wow, what a difference it has made in her......and he is the cutest, sweetest little guy. He plays a little rough with her and she is so gentle with him. But he is one yr. old and she is 4, so I'm hoping he will calm down a little and stop ripping her bows out of her hair (the little stinker). We've only had him six months and we are his third home so I he's still adjusting. But, yes, I do think it is a good idea to have two dogs........so go for it, get that new baby.
