| Liver Shunt The other day, Cooper, my 2 year old Yorkie had a seizure while he was in the bathroom with me while I got ready for work, thank God I was with him. I took him to they vet and they ran a bunch of tests on him to see if he has liver shunt, I am new to all of this and cooper is my first dog. Does anyone know anything about this?

| Welcome to YT. This is such a great site, there is alot of information here. I am going to put 3 links on here: 1. is to a liver shunt site. This link was on Dr. Karen Tobias' site. She is leading the way for liver shunt. http://www.livershunt.com/ 2. Website for Dr. Karen Tobais http://www.vet.utk.edu/faculty/tobias.shtml 3. This is a link to a thread that was started for new people to YT, it has alot of great information in it. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ighlight=amber I hope this helps.

| You are welcome. I know it can be very costly. I have a friend going through the same thing right now. The best thing you can do is continue to educate yourself. Which you seem to be doing. If it comes back OK, then at least you have the knowledge to help someone else. My understanding is that Dr. Karen Tobais is the leading vet in the nation on Liver Shunt. You might give your vet her site. Some will appreciate the info, some may take offense. Keep us posted.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I hope everything turns out ok. Cali has an internal non operable liver shunt but it is very mild. I keep her on a low protein diet and check her blood work every 6 months. She was very sick as a puppy, a lot of vomiting bile and hypoglycemia. Good luck and keep us posted.
